I was just reading the paper work that my local council gave me regarding how the marriage will be conducted. It gives times as to when we have to arrive, including us to be interviewed.

Just a question about that, what do they ask you? Is it like giving Notice of Marriage?

From what my mum told me they ask questions such as middle names, mothers name, occupation etc etc. Things that as a genuine fiancé you would know. xx

When we got married, we had (obviously) already given notice etc and were told we would be interviewed the morning of the wedding. When giving notice we were asked questions such as occupation of the other, dob, middle names etc and we were told we had a discrepancy - he has said i was a paralegal whilst I said I was an employment paralegal and we would be asked again on the morning of the wedding.

We had a chief superintendant and a deputy registrar. All that they asked me was details to go on the certificate - Checked they had the correct full name, checked my DOB and asked my father's name and occupation. Not an interview as such, just checked the details to go on the certificate.

Thats a bit weirde, paralegal/ emplyment patalegal not much difference. I was led to believe the interview on thr mirning is to check details to go on certificate and check you are who your supposed to be!

From my understanding this interview is to confirm it isn't someone pretending to be either you or h2b.

That might be the purpose of the meeting on the morning of but she didnt check at all who i was in terms of asking for ID. Just asked did she have the correct full name for me, my father's name and occupation - she had already asked the same of my husband before seeing me.

Thanks for clarifying. I was worried I was going to get bombarded with odd questions during a time that I'm going to be very nervous and excited. I've just got to ask my dad what his job is because during my notice of marriage I didn't have a clue (we don't talk much and he does jump from job to job), that was embarrassing, lol!

Oh, just routine then, I'm quite anxious about these interviews as my h2b is genuinely not good at remembering dates etc, I make him keep a little diary, as the first year we were together we missed his mums birthday by a month lol.

Lana - I'm not sure, they conduct a lot of notices and weddings, not to mention you'll look considerably different.

it's just for the stuff that they put on the certificate. All I did was confirm my name and date of birth, what I did as a job - H2B (or now H) had put down something different at the original interview and they just wanted to confirm exactly what I wanted on their (he put clerical officer and I said administrative officer - not exactly different). Confirmed my late father's exact name, though the registrar spelled it incorrectly first time - his middle name was Leslie and she put Lesley (female version) - so she redid it and that was it. nothing to worry about. And they were different people.

I've got to think of what occupation I want on it now, my title is a little confusing if you don't work for the company and simply putting 'Cashier' downgrades my responsibilities and I don't really want that on my marriage certificate. Although I just read that the bride can omit her occupation.
