Hi emma- Lou. Welcome to the site :0) I'm on a budget wedding - we knew we were getting married, but decided just over a week ago to do it in December, so we've no time to save.
I have three pieces of advice - first, you really don't need all the stuff you think you do. Second, the bay of e! It is my source for my ring, dress, the stoles and scarves, cake topper, balloons and decorations, favours and bags. You can save a fortune. Also shop around. I just got my bridesmaids dress from Primark for £22 (sorry mods if I'm not allowed to mention the shop. Not sure if it's just websites)
Finally, ask. I put out a notice that we were having a DIY wedding in 7 weeks. 2 families have clubbed together to pay for the DJ. My dad is paying for our reception venue and security. h2b (husband to be)'s parents are buying his and best man's outfits, a friend has just got a new car, so he's being my wedding car and driver, another friend is making the cupcakes for a tower, another buying and cooking some joints of meat for the buffet. It's been overwhelming. Also, another is taking me to a warehouse she's a member of to buy the ribbon and flowers for us to make our own bouquets, button holes and car decorations and a last friend is letting me join Costco on her card so I can get wholesale food, especially desserts.

Jo Santa - you are amazing! I can't believe that you have left yourself so little time and seem so unfazed! Definitely some fantastic ideas there. I am definitely going to steal your getting someone who has a nice car to take you to your ceremony! I had been thinking of that because a cousin of mine (who is a dote) has just bought a beautiful Audi (A8 I think) and it would be just perfect for me, my bridesmaids and my Little Lady Ellie-Rose (she's three).
My family wouldn't be very well off, so I wouldn't want to ask for any financial help, but my sister is making my cake, my other sister is bridesmaid and my other sister (yet another one lol) is writing my invitations. She is fantastic at Calligraphy so... :)
Not sure what I'm doing about favours, centrepieces etc yet. But I have 250 guests... eeeeeeeeeeeek!
P.S. Jo, since we got started on wedding plans I haven't had much sleep. I am now existing (barely) on around two hours a night/early morning. It's a complete nightmare (pardon the pun ladies) and I've tried everything but to no avail! I've just resigned myself to the fact that I can't sleep so why bother trying!
