Hi i am new here so bare with me! I think i have found THE DRESS, but my mum thinks its too early to order it as i am not getting married until November 2012! I see what shes saying as i may find another one between now and then! But this dress is AMAZING! what if i lose it or it gets discontinued....
What does everyone else think???

when you try on 'the one' you just know so if you love it that much and you think its the one id order you may not find one you like as much and if you order then stop looking and you wont find another you like hehe xx

I'm taking my mum to go and see it next Thursday, so hopefully she'll realise how much i love it! i've looked at a few since and none compare to it!
It's "romance" by Tom Flowers, from berketex brides, its new so i can't find any of pics of it as yet!

I am not getting married until march 2013 and i have had my dress since april 2009! its never too early to order! some people choose to wear a family wedding dress and they have it from day 1 so i really wouldnt worry about whether or not other people say its too early.
this is so that if you lose or gain weight between the time of buying the dress you still have time to have it altered.
everyone has their own advise, but thats all it is, ADVISE, so my suggestion is to take everyones advise into consideration and make your own mind up, however, also think that in the mean time you might find the exact same dress cheaper elsewhere! personally my dress has still not dropped in price since 2009 so im not losing money on it.

professionally i would say yes, just incase alterations are needed.
personnally i would say 6 months is a good time scale, you could start thinking about looking in january sales? but that wont work as majority of people get engaged christmas, new years, & valentines so sales will be oct to dec time usually to boost sales during the quiet season.
you can start looking when you are ready to look however most bridal shops get frustrated that people are looking before 6months due to the fact they are not guaranteed a sale as you could continue looking without running out of time. but at that point you could state that your wedding will be within the 6 months, buy the dress you like and store it like i am, mine is hanging from the ceiling in my grandparents bedroom!
so i would reccommend looking asap settleing/buying end january or earlier, like i say sales are usually end of the year to boost sales during the quiet period

Personally, if it's THE ONE then order it! I found mine 16 months before my wedding, but didn't order it at the time. I went to a couple of other shops and tried some more on, but nothing came close to it, so I ordered it. It's never too early, and as it's a big expense you can start paying for it and then it will be all done.

however.... only try on what you can afford! as i said earlier today, if your budget is 500 then only try on a max price of 600 as 100 is easy enough to find through rearranging your budget, much more than that and you could find yourself with a dress your not totally happy with because you tried on one that was 1200 more than double your budget and feel "thi is the one" then realise there is no way you can have it and so settle for something less.
whereas if you dont try on the ones outside of your budget then you you are none the wiser! innocent to expensive dresses is the best way to be.
Also remember to ask the person who goes with you to when they feel its appropriate to catch you off guard and ask you what you would do if you couldnt have that dress, if you feel tearful, speechless or dry mouthed then thats the dress. if your not too bothered or the person your with thinks your not too bothered then its not the dress for you!

My mum told me that she didnt think i'd be able to afford it and was really tearful lol, then my dad said "don't worry if you want it you can have it" (gotta love being a daddy's girl sometimes lol) and ruined my mums game haha. I also couldnt get to sleep that night because i couldnt stop thinking about it! It's definatly gotta be love!! lol

we never thought id find a dress as when talking about getting engaged i kept going past and saying each one was hideous. Got engaged and by Aug 7th 1010 I had brought the dress as fell in love with it. Wedding not till aug 2012 but its still the only one that I really love. Good job i booked early too as got designer discount. At time dress was 1159 from 1500. Now dress gone to 1800 and is subject to another price increase very shortly.
Point is aslong as you have done your research, tried on all types of dresses to check and are still happy then its not too early.

weve paid the deposit on mine but its not ordered yet going back in june which is 12 months b4 to get measured and order it, in the meantime if the dress is getting dicontinued they will ring me up to get me measured up sooner to order it so deffo not too early just put ur deposit down n wait til a little nearer the time to be measured up most places want u to pay half the price of the dress b4 they order it also x

Ooooh go for it! I'm a tad worried reading this though... I dont know what will suit me so not considering buy a dress anytime soon (got lots of weight to lose). I dont want to have to just accept something either because I've ran out of time... must push push push this diet!! x

I didnt really have a budget for my dress, i started out in my mind by saying £1000, but its gone up to £2000 because this dress is sooo lovely!! You're all right though, i might just leave them my number, get them to ring me if they fear its going to discontinue, but really push the dress hunting for a couple of months if i really find nothing else then i'll go back and put deposit down!!
Jillh82 i know what you mean, i went out there totally blind and even hated the look of wedding dresses (i am a bit of a tom boy though)! But turns out i love them on!! lol once i put the one in question on i didnt want to take it off. It's really big and girly too sooo noone is going to expect it lol

if u think its the dress then get it i found my perfect dress last week tried it knew it was the one i have seen other nice ones but nothing compares, while its there u need to get it no matter how long it is till ur wedding xx

I agree, once you find the one nothing else compares! I have 21 months and 6 days to go and I have put down a deposit on mine! They have a payment plan so I am paying it up to cushion the blow! if it is right for you it wont go by you! xx

Get the dress! If its the right one its never too early! I still have 27 months to go!ha i did put a deposit down on it thinking the wedding was going to be next year but we have since put the wedding back a further year so they will have to hold it in the shop. You never know, the dress might be discontinued soon or the price might go up, you never know! Sooooooooo put a deposit down on it if you cant imagine wearing anything else!xx

to try and pressure u some bridal shops refuse to ring when a dress is being discontinued so watch out for this... check their policy

there is no harm in getting it early! i chose my dress before we had even set a date as i just knew it was the dress for me and i wouldnt have been happy in anything else!
at least my buying it now it is a huge expense out the way and you can concentrate on other things! just remember aswell that most dresses take a while to come in and then you have to have them altered so it is a long process getting your dress dress. xx

Mines ordered and i get married a month before you when you find the one dont second guess it as a LOT of girls on here advised me ( see my thread how soon is too soon) the dress picks you not the other way round :) soon as i put mine on it was oooooo! Me want! So you know!

I say get it!! Ive had my dress for a couple of years now and im not getting married until March 2013!! Glad i got it when i did because it was discontinued last September! If you love it get it, provided you can maintain your weight you will be fine. Remember... they can take in a dress not out lol xx
