OK, maybe I've just hallucinated, but I really DON'T think I have ... I can almost swear a mouse just ran past my living room door and went behind my tv, but h2b can't find it!
We had a feeling we had mice squatting in our attic, I think this now confirms it!
I'm absolutely petrified ... I hate beasties ... I also hate mouse traps but think I really need to consider getting some, my son said you can buy "humane" mousetraps, any one know what he is talking about?!

THERE'S A MOOSE LOOSE ABOOT THIS HOOSE !!!!!!!

ye so you can set them free again! they wouldnt stand a chance in my house with my 3 cats.

they can get in to all kinds of places so you may never actually see it unless you get a trap to catch it.x

Lots of places sell those kind of traps, they basically catch the 'beastie' (luv that) alive and then you can release it in a safe environment away from your home. No poison, no nasty crack of the neck, or fingers, type thing. Maybe speak to a vet and they should be able to direct you to a supplier hun.

Have you nitced any droppings about anywhere at all babe?

P.s - meant to say that the landlord had mousetraps in the attic when we moved in, so obviously he has had an issue previously and forgotten to tell us ... stupid man!

Also contact your landlord and say that they are invading the living space and get him to contact the appropriate people services, you can insist that humane-traps only are used

As above there are many places to get humane mouse traps. My dad had this problem once and found peanut butter or mars bars were more effective than the traditional cheese method. Be aware of any small gaps on walls etc, apparantly if youcan stick a pencil in it, a mouse can get through it

Use peppermint oil. They hate the stuff. Dab it on some cotton wall and shove it where you think they might like hiding.

We used it when we had mice the previous two times. Obviously you need a long term solution to stop them getting in but it works short term.

I just found mouse poo on my kitchen work top this morning. Nice. I live in a 2nd floor flat and they have mice in the building. Its the 3rd time in 2 years we've had them now. Dam buggers.

We called our local council and they came out to us and did a check in the house as well as all the possible places. they do however use poison so u might not like that idea but i wasnt sleeping with the thought of them being in our house. Night mare. Hope you get it sorted quickly. xxx

We had a mouse problem, we got poison and humane traps, and have had a plug in thing that's supposed to keep them away since, and it seems to have worked x

Oh no! It's awful when you have mice. This is the time of year for it though!

We have been having bother with them lately - I saw one, and my H2B chased it out of the flat, then we saw another one (possibly the same one got back in some how) and he trod on it and killed it, then we saw a third one that he chased out... then when I was going to the loo in the night (terrified, with a torch) one rushed right at my feet!!!

This was all in one night after having never seen one in the flat ever before. We had an an electronic mouse deterrent that plugs in, but I had unplugged it to do the hoovering the night before we saw them, so I think that might have something to do with it. I think the electronic things are really effective if you get the proper electromagnetic ones, not the cheap ultrasonic ones!

Since seeing the mice we have bought a second one, and also soaked the house in peppermint oil and got 10 traps (for our 2 bed flat!). I'm pretty sure I can hear them in the walls at night, but we have only ever caught one in a trap and we haven't actually seen any live ones since the first night. The bin did get ripped up once though.

I wouldn't bother with the humane traps as they have excellent homing instincts and they will just come back. The trap manufacturers recommend releasing them at least a mile from your house but I read an account online from someone who marked the mice with an old lipstick before releasing them two miles away and she found marked mice in her house again.

I'm just starting to relax again after dealing with ours, so I really hope you get yours sorted, I have lots and lots of sympathy for you!

I have some plug in devices that send out a high pitch noise that we can't hear but they hate. It means that they stay out of the house as they can't stand the noise. You can get 3 for about £15 in B&Q and other hardware stores. If you keep them plugged in all the time then it should get rid of them and stop anything else from coming back.

We have just got rid of rats out of the shed at the bottom of the garden. It was a right nightmare. Needless to say we poisoned them as I wasn't going to be humane with them suckers.

Oh and remember to bleach everything before you prepare any food etc as they wee all the time over everything and have so many germs it is unreal. You never know if they have been crawling about all over your work tops and inside your cupboards etc.

Yeah they are really big. I couldn't believe it when I saw them running all over the shed. We were feeding the birds so they came to feed on what they dropped. Needless to say the birds have to find somewhere else to feed now. Its a shame but I don't want rats.

Awwww, sweet! Though maybe not so sweet when running around your house! I usually get a couple of mice a week in my front hall, always headless though, courtesy of our cats. Nice. I've heard that somewhere in the UK there is a wild raccoon on the loose, now that would be fun to find in your house!
