    HI All
I have this vision of long tables and all the guests being able to sit where they like. I wasn't originally going to have a top table but think i will now. If H2B had his way we wouldn't have tables at all. One on my friends said she'd been to a wedding without a seating plan and it had worked really well. We are having a hog roast.

Any one else have any experiance?

Best mate had a hog roast last yr - we did have a table plan but people could sit where wanted to on that table - it worked really well. For me personally we will have a table plan as to be truthful there are some people being invited just to be polite to the family but i would rather have other people sitting closer to me

My step dad has brought me up and is giving me away however my dad will be there however as i only see him about twice a yr he will not b at top table. Also my sisters do not get on with my dad so thy need to be kept apart too lol. My dad can b a bit of a pain so don't know who will be able to put up with him for long lol........where to sit him? lol xx

I think with a hog roast no seating plan would work really well. It will give your guests the chance to mingle. I am having a seating plan beacause where people sit with my fam causes an argument with 12 of us at christmas let alone with 80 people! And we are having a more formal 3 course meal

Yeah, no seating plan for a hog roast would work really well. I am quite excited to have a seating plan, although when I actually get down to doing it I think it's going to be a bit of a nightmare! x

I considered a seating plan as a lot of our guests don´t know each other because we have people from two different countries coming... but then realised that if I put each ´group´on their own table, it´ll end up being clique-y and it´ll be harder to break the ice. We´re now thinking of having the one table for the bridal party and then having a long table for everyone to sit at. Hoping this will encourage people to talk and mingle with others and keep conversation flowing!

I think we will be having a seating plan although I will be calling on mum and sister to help seat everyone as they know who gets on with whom (and vice versa) in the family!

yeh would be nice, but I'd just worry that it would be too informal for the speaches. I want a sweetheart table and family tables so that my gran is in a good place for the loo and family frictions don't start.

Mum is well peeved that dad isn't paying for wedding, I would never have expected it, his wife wouldn't let him, why should I be bothered about something I knew wasn't going to happen???

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

i cant decide. still dont know where im getting married so that doesnt help lol. i think if your having a sit down meal its nice to have a seating plan, just so people get to their seats and no-one is moving about swappin seats etc. but if your having a hog roast i dont think it would matter (really want a hog roast too but h2b only eats beef- pain) so long as everyone is seated when food is ready xx

It can work if you have some extra seats to go around but you have to be careful that couples don't just spread out all over so bigger groups that want to sit together are then split up and can't sit next to each other. I think it works best if you are having long tables rather than round ones that only fit up to 10 people on them.

We are having a seating plan but I don't think it's always necessary. Esp if you are having a hog roast, people will be getting up and sitting down at different times and prob swapping seats to talk to other guests so I would go for it if thats what you want:)
