Hi Ladies
This is my first time on here! I am so excited I am getting married next January! I have already found my dress and I have taken a bit of a gamble....its a large princess/ball gown shape tulle and organza (mori lee) and I am having quite a lot changed on it to make it absolutely perfect! I am going to see the dress maker tonight! Its a 'off the rail' dress and I am using it as a base and having things removed off it and lace appliqués added to it. I have put it on twice and both times I have felt like a princess in it and couldn't stop spinning around!

The dress is completely the opposite to what I thought would look good on me (at first I thought a figure hugging simple dress would look good- they looked awful on my hips!), I am 5"7 size 8/10 and my dress makes my waist look really small and I am reasonably tall so it doesn't swamp me. I am just worried people will think I have gone a bit OTT!? The skirt is pretty big!

Or should I not even bother worrying about that?!

I am in the same boat, I've gone for a princess dress, Hollywood dreams!, and people keep saying things like awk well as long as you don't have a dress like my big fat gypsy wedding, and I know my dress is no where as big as those but it is still big!
I've got to the point to where I don't really care anymore, I know it isn't everybodys taste but it is most certainly mine and feel like a princess in it and that's all that matters :)

Wear your dress, love it and be proud!

to the site hun and congrats on ur engagement, i wouldnt worry what people think hun this is YOUR day not theres and every bride has the right to feel like a princess on there wedding day xxx

Welcome nic! which style is your dress? Just being nosey.. Lol, and i agree with the other brides, it is your day, your dress and all that matters is what you and your husband 2B think. I'm sure you look stunning in it. xx

Thanks for all the messages I will make sure I get a photo of me in it tonight! Its mori lee 1615 but I am having the top layer of tulle removed and replaced by a plain tulle as I am not so keen on the flowers and I wont be wearing the belt/sash.

Congrats and hi! I was worried about the same thing, mine's not big width ways but it's long at the back, and i did worry that it would be too big for a small venue as we've not got a venue yet, but then i decided i don't care! I don't think you can over dress on your wedding day when youre the bride! I haven't the monies for a large castle style wedding so i have to settle for a big dress instead ;)

"puffy" dresses are eye catching. All eyes will be on you for the day, it's a gorgeous dress :) Only you can decide what dress you want. How cares if a few people don't like it or it's "not their style". They aren't the ones wearing it.

I went to see it again last night and it still needs a bit more taking in off the sides but its looking fab! I will put some pics up in a bit for you all to have a look at! Its still a work in progress though!! My dress maker is fantastic if any body is looking for somebody around the staffordshire/Cheshire area. xxx

Big dresses are "not my style" (although that may change when I try them on lol!) but even I think your dress is gorgeous!
