Can anyone help me how to get my dress to Cyprus. I was told by my wedding planner not to have my dress put in the hold, But i have since been told by Thomas cook it has to.
I was told to put this on as hand luggage, can you tell me how your all taking your dresses abroad please

I think you should certainly take it as hand luggage as i would worry about it constantly if it was in the hold.Firstly you have seen how they treat hold luggage and secondly you have no guarantee of ever seeing it again.I would like my dress where i could see it at all times lol! Last time i was on a plane (Thomas C) there was a lady with a wedding dress just in a dress bag and the stewards made sure she had an overhead locker all to herself so that her dress would not get crushed etc.I would contact your flight provider well in advance and even if you had to pay extra i would just to have it with you xxx

I'm worried about taking my dress on the plane too, I got a dress bag from the bay but its not what I was expecting so I don't know what to do now, maybe put it in and see what its like and take it as hand luggage :/

my original dress is too big to go in hand luggage, so it HAS to go in the hold. thomas cook don't allow wedding dresses in with you anymore. airlines used to hang them up for you, but not anymore. i'm flying with them too

my new dress (providing it's nice) will fit in hand luggage!!

my sil was married abroad and dress suits and everything had to go in the hold. she had them in one suitcase with sticker on saying handle with care and told airport when she arrived and they put a tag on bag for her. when we arrived they were all fine. x

I took mine on board with me. I bought a special box that is the right size for hand luggage, and I even managed to fit my shoes and jewlery and underwear in the box too! VA even asked if I would like it putting in with the pilot for safe keeping during the flight, which I did. Ont he way back, I also had 2 crystal champagne glasses in the box which were a present from my MoH.
I persoanlly wouldn't feel comfortable putting my wedding dress in the hold - especially having seen the state of one case of mine that came out from there once before!

if your dress can fit into a travel box, i would take it onboard with you. the only reason i couldn't do that with the big dress is because it really is huge WITHOUT the hoop and underskirt

my new one will fit into a box, so i will take it onboard

I have a bag that his carriage dimensions and will (hopefully) be big enough to hold my dress and then i will take it on with me. When my dress arrives I will see if it fits. Fingers crossed. Thomson have given h2b & I an extra 5k each as bride & groom but I would still prefer my dress to be with me. x

We got that too and it covered our luggage as we took kilts with us. My hubby had hand luggage I had my dress in it's box and my own bag too. They never weighed our hand luggage or sized it x
