Ours were £450 in total. Bit more expensive than most (my mum was shocked) but we said we didn't mind spending a bit more of the budget on rings we love because we'll have them for the rest of our lives, our reception/ party will only last for a day. I'm really pleased with them, they are gorgeous white gold with three diamonds set in them :D Can't wait to wear mine :D xx

That is a good price so I don't know what she thought was a good price for a ring these days. We paid £200 for Kev's 9crt 5mm extra heavy weight (because of his job etc) and I have an 18crt 4mm heavy weight that was £225. Oh but then I forgot we got 10% off each of them for being cheeky and asking for a discount lol.

Were budgeting to pay £250 each on ours because the rings are for life so its better to spend more i found, in the long run if you factor spending £250 over a lifetime its hardly anything. My friend bought hers at h samuel and she spent £200 on hers and its such a solid well built ring : ) xxxxxx

We were given £3000 in vouchers for Goldsmiths so mine was £999 for platinum and diamonds (3mm, but looks like two 1.5mm bands) and Grant's was £549 for 6mm palladium concave ring. That said mine has gone up by £100 since I bought it. (We spent the rest on presents for ourselves and others.)

Going to be wearing them for ever so they need to be nice and sturdy as I am allergic to many metals we had to go for the best!

I knew I wanted my wedding band to match my engagement ring so bought the matching one from Tiffanys, it's just plain platinum band. H2B wasn't sure what he wanted and tried loads on but in the end has bought the mens matching one to my rings :) So wasn't a cheap shopping trip but think it's lovely that they all match and it's an investment, ours have both gone up in price since we bought them hence why we bought them sooooooo early and managed to miss the VAT increase too :)

The overall UK average price for a ladies ring is about £400 and for a gents its about £450.

Obviously this includes rings from the lowest to the highest price. We sold a pair of diamond encrusted rings last year to a Scottish couple which cost them £15,000 - but we sell loads of rings for under £150 and the vast majority are under £500.

Its not about how much you spend - its about finding the perfect ring for you. There are thousands of designs out there so it can be a problem finding exactly what you want but some companies like us offer a 'design your own' service. We simply charge for the metal and the stones - we don't add anything on for the design.

In the end whether you pay £50 or £5000 its a symbol of your love for each other.

Well we aren't spending more than about £200 for both, I always thought that the engagement ring was meant to be the more expensive of the 2? But anyway we are going to Turkey this summer and thinking about getting our rings there as good jewellery over there is less expensive than in the UK.
