I am HOPELESS at this! What's a reasonable price for a DJ? I don't want to end up paying masses of money and getting conned because i'm ignorant about what i should or shouldn't be paying. Alot of them don't even put prices on their websites. I need to book one as soon as because it seems everyone is booked up around the time of our wedding. What do they normally cost?
    Thankies in advance :)
    xXx

Im getting one for the bargain (?) price of £150, he is provided by the venue and sounds quite good, basically plays the songs we ask him to!

l am paying mine £180 there will be two Dj's on site for the evening, he has sent me a book to plan any songs l wish and has asked me compile as much as l like and givehim times for songs and annoucements l want throughout the evening!!! l thought thats was excellent, l asked him if he would like fed and he said normally they take it in turns to pop into the kitchen for thier food away from the party and that l shouldn't book him anything as the hotel normally feeds him xx

Im paying £400 for my dj because its important that the music is right for us. His the best in our area and has done parties for us before. If u want to best u have to pay the price. If your not too fussed then it wont be as much. All dj vary.

Have your venue got a preferred DJ, as they are notrmally a bit cheaper than booking one elsewhere? Where abouts do you live as my uncle is a DJ and he's good, give him a playlist and he'll stick to it :) One of my friends is a DJ and he's doing ours as a wedding present for us :-) x

Vix, I also think it depends on where you live...we are getting married in Yorkshire, but in London bizarrely it seems cheaper, I guess there is more competition!

We should be having our DJ play from 7-12pm, for about £150. I have never seen him play but have heard good reviews about him. I think he is one of the cheapest around our area x x x

I've just had a quote for a DJ who arrives before the start of the ceremony (12.30) to provide music for the ceremony then background music before and during the wedding breakfast, full use of microphones for speeches background music while the evening guests arrived and then party from 7.30-12.30. That's 12 hours work for £675. Not sure if it's a good deal but you get to hand pick your guest list and I can tell him that I don't want any Lady GaGa played on my wedding date. The only person marrying the night will be me! x

I went for the hotel's recommended who was £250. The lady at the hotel said he was fab and so many of their couples are really happy with him. Didn't look for anybody else after that as although I wouldn't have paid the earth, a recommendation is important to me. I wouldn't want to go for a cheap deal with no idea of how good he (or she!) was and risk being disappointed. x

We're paying £150 for our DJ, he'll be with us from 7pm til half 12. He's cheaper than the venue's DJ and we've actually heard him cos he did our friend's wedding in September.
