Hi all, my name is natalie and im getting married aug 20th 2011. I was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas of how much there church fees are or were and wat was included in that price, as my church has given me no idea on how much they will be and i need to include it in my budget! I have paid £100 deposit but wont be having a meeting with the vicar til nearer the time!! Please help if you can xxxx

It depends on the church. Mine for example are £400, but I've heard of fees between £0 and £1000+ . If you look further down there is another thread on church fees.

Wat is banns? i have just noticed there is another thread, lol! xx
CommentAuthorMrs fairytale
from what i can understand banns, are where the vicar has to read out your names in church on 3 different times, to make everybody aware that u are getting married, dont know if that is all the paper work as well but i think it is, but i would check as not 100 % wedding are confusing at the best of times i think lol x
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx
literally just found out mine are working out at £555

Just got an email from the Church and this is the break down for my fees: Church of the Holy Innocents, High Beach
WEDDING FEES 2011
ITEM TOTAL COST £900.00
Legal Fees 262.00 Organist 120.00 Use of organ 50.00 Clerk 30.00 Use of Church 150.00 Choir 80.00 Verger 15.00 Bells 50.00 Biodegradable confetti 25.00 Flowers 118.00
I am not having the organ or choir, I am doing my own flowers and charging for confetti! It is one fee fits all, even if you dont use it all! I am so fuming but I love the Church :-(
CommentAuthorMagicFairies
Ours is £520, that includes organ/ organist, bells, legal fees, banns... We don't want a choir so our church won't charge us for one. If you speak to the vicar they tend to charge what is appropriate for the couple - it costs a lot to run a church and so if you have the money to spare they can sometimes expect you to donate a bit more for the privilege. xxx
CommentAuthorStave
Thing is we had set aside "donation" funds and it does come to the same amount. I just feel annoyed that they have been so blinkered with it and a one fee fits all :-(
CommentAuthorHayley
Ours is £540 for everything apart from a choir x

ours is £780 for everything

The Choir at the Church is 4 little old ladies that cant hold a note, never mind a tune or whole hymn :-( I know that they are on pensions etc and it helps them but why should I "HAVE" to pay for them, especially as I am not having them. It has made me sad.
CommentAuthorMagicFairies
I know that seems so unfair. At least you had set aside that amount for the church already. I think it is wrong to charge that much as a one size fits all price especially if it is your parish church. Though i am very sympathetic to fundraising problems that many churches have so i can understand why they are trying to charge that much, especially when they see people throwing thousands of pounds into their wedding and buying extravagant things unnecessarily - why shouldn't the church earn that much from a wedding considering that the ceremony they provide is the most important bit. I am just grateful, with a budget of £3000, that our church is exactly the amount we can afford, no more no less. xxx

The one and only place that I didnt think I would feel taken advantage of is the Church,as I expect it from everywhere else, as soon as anybody hears the "W" word the prices go sky high. We were very happy (well my dad) to give a generous dontation to the Church. We even have a DD each month to them.
Luckily we dont have a budget as such (not that I am saying we got thousands) my motto is to get the cheapest possible, so was hoping not to be more than 4-5k x
CommentAuthormcewan07
mine is only around £275. for the church , organ , parking attendant and church officer. Then i need the licence and certifiactes on top of that(from registry office) so all in for the ceremony it will be £350 at my church. As you can see the prices do change quite alot.
CommentAuthorderangedbride
mines 474.50 to the church we are marrying in and 38.00 to the church we live near for the banns to be read there as we are marrying in another parish in the town
CommentAuthormrsl2b11

Mine is £100 for donation, £40 for registrar and £50 for organist.
Was really pleased that £190 all in including bells :0) BUT spoke to the priest on Saturday and he has said that as we are bringing in our own organist we will have to pay the church's own organist to not play at the ceremony so thats another £50!!! Church ettiquette apparently!!! So cross! She is dreadful and would be considered a comedy organist! Bum notes ahoy! My mum says that we will pay it and lower the church donation! x
is Mrs Suzie Bear!!!!
Gotta be pink!!! :0)
I think I blinked and missed our wedding!! lol
