I am trying to decide on my flowers and keep changing my mind! My dress is Oyster Pearl,my Moh is wearing dark purple and my flowergirl is wearing an ivory dress with a purple sash. The men are all wearing their own suits but wearing matching purple and gold patterned ties.
My contenders so far are A) a simple hand tied bouquet of calla lilies-with bridesmaid carrying a smaller version and flowergirl with a wand and the men wearing calla lily buttonholes.
    B) Pink Stargazer Lilies as above although maybe not for the men as they look a bit big so maybe a pink rose for them.
C)Gerbera again as above in either hot pink or orange.
D)Autumnal shades of orange as we are getting married in October.
or lastlyE) a more traditional posy of mixed flowers in lilacs, purples etc to match the bridesmaids.
RANDOM-i know and that is the shortlist! Please Help xxx

theres so many flowers out there its hard to choose isnt it?! im still not sure on what i want! If u want my opinion i think the calla lillies sounds best, only cos i think the pinks and oranges might be a bit much with the purple and gold and oyster etc, maybe have ivory gerberas? if u dont want to be stuck with the lillies or mix it up a bit and have some purple flowers in with the ivory ones and tie with a gold ribbon?? theres so many options it is hard to decide! hope u come 2 a conclusion b4 ur wedding! lol care to share ur opinions of mine?? im having royal blue for bridesmaids and flowergirls ivory with blue sash and the men r getting their own suits, prob silver, with blue ties, im thinking gerberas as i love them flowers, maybe in ivory with a silver ribbon, or ivory roses with silver butterflies attached, again so many options! lol x

Calla lillies come in a beautiful orangey colour - just to add more to your mix lol

I would start by thinking about the look you are going for - if you want something traditional then the first or last choices would be best, if you want the stand out flowers then the lillies or gerberas would be better, if you want something natural then go for the orange ones.

I chose mine by looking at lots of magazines and on the internet - if you look at lots you may find yourself being drawn to the same type again and again. I cut out all the ones i liked no matter how different they were then chose the ones i liked the best.

Have you spoken to a florist - some flowers are more expensive depending on the time of year and that may have a bearing - they also may have suggestions and their own work to look through which gives you inspiration.

i just knew what I wanted from day one - gerberas are my favourite flower and adam loves them too so there was no competition for us! We're having cerise pink and bright orange gerberas - they look absolutely gorgeous together! If your bridesmaids are wearing dark purple that combination would look stunning :o) No competition for me, gereberas all the way! xxx

Oh its tricky.Thing is i love most flowers but i don't know much about them.I know i want them to smell glorious but i don't really know which ones smell lol! I am a bit nervous of going into a florists-you know how it is when you feel totally out of your comfort zone because you you know so little about the product you are enquiring about.I like the orange calla lillies-do they smell as lovely as the stargazers? I have also googled the ivory gerberas FutureMrsPie and they look lovely, simple, innocent but striking .do gerberas smell nice ? xxx
p.s yes i will be swayed by cost too as i don't have a massive budget for flowers but only need mine, moh, flowergirl and six buttonholes plus maybe 2 corsages. The venues flowers are included xxx

Calla lillies don't smell anything like stargazers. If you want to go for a good scent its gota be stargazers! Gerberas dont have any scent either! xxx

I felt exactly the same as you about going into florists - but all of the ones I went into were so helpful and gave great advice (apart from one who was so old fashioned she basically told h2b to leave and that really my mum should be chosing the flowers lol) - If you went in with what you like your budget and the fact that you want something really fragrant Im sure that would be enough to work with :)

Think i am just going to have to bite the bullet ladies and book in with some florists.Thats reassuring Nicsquared i think i will just have to make a list of the flowers i know i like and my requirements ie cheap and smelly lol and go for it.Helz thats a good idea for the stargazers with the gerbera -am i right in thinking the gerberas would be cheaper than the lilies so could possibly keep the cost down that way and i could then have gerbera buttonholes maybe? xxx

Gerberas are pretty much one of the cheapest flowers - you could always cut costs further by having yours as lillies and gerberas and keep the BMs just as gerberas - then you still get the smell :)

i agree with nicsquared - gerberas are dirt cheap compared to other flowers. My bouquet is 13 gerberas with a little foliage and is only costing me £32, and the bridesmaids are the same but with 8 flowers are theirs are costing £25. They are gorgeous, but if you want something that smells nice they're not going to fit the bill unfortunately xx

Sara i quite like the idea that Nicsquared suggested of me having lillies and gerbera together so i get the smell and then the bms and buttonholes can be gerbera. Your flowers seem a really good price too xxx

    Hi ladies,

As were getting married in September and our colour is burnt orange.

The h2b and best man is having orange calla lilies and the dads and my brother are having white calla lilies. I'm having a posy of burnt orange flowers including mini gerberars and calla lilies.

My table centres are having white cabbages, kangaroo paw (which looks fab if ur getting married in the autumn) ranunculus, thistles, large gerberas and a mixture of dark green foliages.

It should look brilliant as its going to be on stands on a mirror plate and around the mirror plate I'm going to have heart candles with orange petals and I'm thinking of having a circle of lavender or dried rose buds.

Hopefully it should all come together nicely.

I have the same problem, mine is more the shape and style of the bouquet as my dress has alot of detail on it. My dress is the same colour as yours and my bm's are wearing purple with pink sashes and are having burnt orange flowers.

Go with the flowers you prefer in all honesty - im going for all purple xxx

i agree, go into the florists and give them a list of what u like, love ur phrase 'cheap and smelly' lol thats basically what im after! gerberas would be great with some lavender or something aswell, for a bit of purple, but the florsists r the pros and know every flower in the book so will know what to suggest to u, my mil is doing my flowers as she used to be an at home florist so thats going to save me money, she advised me to have quite a simple bouquet aswell as my dress has quite a lot of detail on it and dont want to detract away from the dress, just go with what u like, as much as anyone suggests to u its ur own personal taste that should be the overall decision x

Mrsk2b,your flowers sound lovely and so well thought out, have you come up with these ideas with the help of a florist or did you think of them yourself? I just haven't got the vision lol!
Rachie i love your dress and you are right you definitely don't want to detract from or obscure the detail on your dress;its gorgeous!
FutureMrsPite i don't want anything too fancy or ornate either so maybe i need to ask for something plain, cheap and smelly! xxx

I have to say most of it was done with my H2B and i have an amazing florist who loves to do things a bit different to most florist. I just wanted burnt orange flowers and for him and the best man to have the same colour of calla lilies.

Have you had a look at the kangroo paws as they do look good im not sure how much they cost as the total cost we are paying is £560 I think and that includes 10 centre pieces which are costing me £350,

As you are getting married in October have a look at the flowers that flower in that month and go from there as that can work out cheaper, thats what my florist said to me.

I am going for a simple small white ball shaped posy, ok it is of ebay and under a fiver, but it is what budget allows AND plain white and simple. I want to keep my entire outfit as white as possible, plain and simple but (hopefully) elegant

If you did decide to have the lilles and gerberas you would have to have the gerberas as the buttonholes, as lillies would just be too big. So I think it would look nice to have mostly lillies with a just a few gerberas in the bouquets, then you have your smelly lillies and the few gerbs to compliment the buttonholes xx
