I know that horseshoes are good luck but who gives them to the bride and groom? I saw at my friends wedding her getting quite a few after the ceremony, and it got me thinking, should our DS be giving us one or not? but when should he give us it, he will be holding the ring cushion during the ceremony my mum would hold the horseshoe for him though so should he give it to us before we walk up the aisle or after?
Oh jings didnt realise how stupid this sounds lol.

I'm not sure, my MIL thrust one into my hands after the wedding ceremony, on my first wedding a friend who came from the mainland gave me one.

My mum has given me hers to use. I'm not really sure who will give it to me or when. I think probably just before we walk back down the aisle so I can hold it with my flowers. Sorry, thats not very helpful. X

I found this....
So how exactly are horseshoes incorporated into the average wedding day? Well, traditionally the bride would be presented with a decorated horseshoe by the female members of the family, particularly children. Having a child hand over the horseshoe to the bride is said to ensure her fertility, which would have been extremely important to the newlyweds back in the Victorian era. The bride should then carry the horseshoes with her bouquet for the formal photos, and should ensure that the horseshoes are displayed, along with the bouquet, for the rest of the celebration so that everyone can admire them.

I didn't get a single one.
Married the love of my life on Saturday 11th May 2013 xxx
Had our dream perfect honeymoon in Hawaii!
I have seen some where bridesmaids or pageboys carry them down the aisle and then the bride had it later on for pictures.
Personally if anyone does get me one I will have it for some pictures but I'm so clumsy I'm focusing on not dropping my flowers lol
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .
Friends became soul mates :)
Engaged 6th July 2013

i bought one when my brother got married and my nieces gave it to my sister in law at the start of the photos. that way had photos of her being given the horseshoe and then in the photos after. i just kept hold of it during the ceremony out of sight x

I know Debbie's Mum is giving her the horseshoe she carried when she married (her something borrowed) but from what I understand, it's a good luck token for the mothers and female members of the family :)

Well, my family is Brazilian, so we have never heard of that before. However, my fmil told me about it when I was there, and I'm hoping she give me one, cause Mum won't think about it lol (I love your traditions <3)

please make sure that all of you have the horseshoe the right way up ....
it should be strung from the two points and kept this way up , this is to ensure the good luck doesn't run out
My mum told me about this and I had never heard of it before, but my flower girl will be giving me mine after the ceremony. I thought it would be a nice extra thing for her to do and she can just wear it on her wrist during the ceremony x

I got two horseshoes, one from my nan and one from the company who we had our horse and carriage from (its not as random as it sounds as I know their daughter! Lol) and my mum also gave me an ornament of a chimney sweep to hold as they are also supposed to be good luck :) we were given them all when we were standing outside the church after the ceremony before the confetti was thrown :) I wasn't aware anyone was giving us anything though, I personally think it would be a bit odd to buy one yourself for someone else to give to you but it's up to the individuals what they do :) xxx

I wouldn't have bought it myself my mum would have done it. It was more about my ds giving us one IF thats what would normally happen so that he would be first but im not going to bother now.
