Hi there, I am very new to this :). My H2b and i got engaged in October and have started the hunt for a venue in Leeds or there abouts. I am a real foodie at heart so already have an idea of exactly what we are going to eat at the wedding ( what can I say some girls dream about the dress...) and was looking for a venue that would allow you to bring in your own caterer or at least give you that option. After vising a couple of venues in the area i have not found anywhere. Has anyone got any tips?
Thanks Rebecca

Type Leeds into google maps and on the map you get an option to search nearby for whatever you like. Type in wedding venues - worked a treat for me :) xxx

the hotel we are using has won awards for it food (tom loves his food) why dont you try finding a venue like that where you dont have to worry about getting someone in? x x x x

Not sure whether they still do weddings but have a look at Bretton Hall. I went to Uni there over 10 years ago and they definitely used to do weddings but since not being a Uni campus anymore, i think they're mainly conference and events venue, so should, in theory, do weddings.
I'm in Leeds but can't think of anywhere where you can do your own catering/bring your own caterer. We enquired at the Irish Centre on York Road (A64) - they let you for any party except weddings as they said they don't allow own caterers for weddings. They do have a pretty good choice (hot food and buffets) though, and a choice of 3 rooms as well.

I went to Bretton too and I heard it was going to be turned into a luxury spa hotel, although whether that actually happened I have no idea. It is beautiful there though if it is now a hotel!

I used to love working at the Irish Centre (used to be in catering many moons ago) it was always a really good atmosphere!
Headingley Cricket/Rugby Ground perhaps? What sort of budget do you have in mind? There are so many places fit for foodies but it all depends on what you want to spend xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

go to registry office and get the pack of them, they have a list of all local lisenced venues. I have found one in huddersfield that is liscenced and lets you bring in your own caterers and entertainment.
Other than that I heard through a friend of a friend that the cornexchange was a lovely venue (you have to use anthony's restaurant tho.....just a thought. :) Happy hunting.
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

Where I got married might be a bit far out- The Rock Hotel, Holywell Green (between Halifax and Huddersfield) but I can assure you the food is fab.

I used to love the Sunday lunches at the Irish Centre Kerrylou - and my parents used to go more often than me.

We are on a bit of a tight budget and dont think i could get my H2B to even consider Antony's although the food would be amasing. A lot of people have mentioned the Irish centre so we are going to have a look next month and will check out the registry office, don't know why I did not think of that.

Oakwell hall country park, its in Birstall (Wakefield) we viewed it its lovely, they have a grade 2 listed barn that's owned by the council, you hire the barn out for around £500 and then you have pretty much free rein, they are extremely helpful too. The hall itself is Elizabethan a think you can get married there but if not they allow you to have pics taken in the hall and gardens. Its worth a look xx
