i had my makeup trial today and I hated it. The woman was really nice but I hated my makeup and cried most of the afternoon after she left. the problem was that she didn't put enough on! you always hear about woman who want a natural look and the make up artist go OTT but she didn't even put enough foundation on me you could see imperfections on my skin and I actually thought she forgot to put foundation on at all. when she said she had finished I thought she was joking. I wear quite a bit of makeup myself and kept telling her over and over again. And I had to get her to keep adding more to it. After spending nearly 2 hours on it I just told her the more I look at it the more I don't like it. It looked slightly better when she left but I was really upset. I know I sound like such a drama queen but im really worried now. My look on the day is really important to me and I don't want to look pastey and white compared to what I normally look like. I looked like a ghost. no idea what to do. I don't want to just do my own makeup as I want to look special and different to any normal day. Am I expecting too much from a makeup artist? totally gutted :-(

No you are not being daft, I would definitely suggest either doing it yourself or having another trial until you are happy. Maybe try someone else? That's the point of the trials hun. Don't feel bad about it though, just be glad you had the trial and now you know, rather then having a horrible shock on your big day

Yeah like donna said thats the point of trials, maybe try someone different? Have you got any pics of what you want like eye wise, lips etc? if your generaly happy with the colouring and cover of your foundation maybe you can se this is what I normaly use, im not happy that you can see this ______ , or that blemish in my skin which in conscious of.

I agree; It's not daft; you want to look amazing so I'd suggest going for another trial like Lana said or do your own :)

This is why you have trials. Did you tell her you were not happy with it before she left? If not she may be thinking you like it. I never wanted someone doing my makeup the way I never wanted it done so I done it myself.
Ask her for another trial, tell her what you want find some images! I don't want a natural look I want smokey eyes for my wedding because I know I suit it and love it too Xx

I agree, tell her what you want and be quite firm. If she can't do what you expect, then you need to shop around look for someone else. xx
CommentAuthorLauraK7
Get another trial and perhaps collect some images of what you'd like x

this is what the trial is for... better today than your wedding day. you need to tell her what your grievances are and try again. or find someone else.

Omg Clairenina 5!!!! Were they really that bad xx

My first trial was horrendous it didn't look like me at all and made my dark circles look more noticeable. Ended up getting someone else who did a fab job. Think you should go elsewhere or do it yourself Hun, if she left you in tears after the trial it doesn't bode well for the big day. Hope you find someone Hun x

Are any of your bridesmaids good at make-up? I'll probably get my MOH to do mine. Some of the high street shops will do free make-overs, so maybe you could try something in store to find out what works, then you know what make-up to buy and how much to put on.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

This is why I'm doing mine. When it was my prom I had it done and I had gone home and changed it re-did eye shadow and added more eyeliner and things. But if you can try another person or ask her to do another trial and get some picks of the look your going for :-)

Hi Katielea, they were terrible. I'm naturally very light blonde, and they tried putting dark mascara on me. I looked like a clown. I've also had people offend me by suggesting I dye my eyebrows! Why should I if I like them natural?

These threads worry me ha ha I don't wear. Lot of make up at all and want quite a natural look for my wedding and tempted to do it myself but want a bit of pampering

I hated my makeup trial, i had 3. But as a makeup artist myself, I knew exactly what I wanted. I shall be doing it myself. Xx

Im rubbish at make up, but love it, a friend of mine used to do my make up for me ages ago and loved it, but lack confidence to try more bold ideas as when I do it myself I look like a clown, and end up washing it all off straight away

Oh dear, I was the opposite ( don't wear much make up normally) but the MUA toned it down and I was really pleased. She used HD airbrushing to apply the foundation, so even though it costs more it covers every little flaw - may be worth investigating to see if someone local to you does the airbrushing?
CommentAuthorLauraK7
I was looking at the airbrushing f

thanks everyone. i am booking another trial when ive got a bit more of a tan and hopefully i will feel a bit better about it then. i think ill just end up doing my own foundation and ask her to do my eyes or something. im still a bit nervous about it but i suppose makeup is a personal thing and everyone knows how they like it. ill update you all when i have my next trial in a few weeks! x
