Hi, my partner and I are looking to get married in bardolino, on lake Garda in Italy.

I understand that we will need to have the ceremony in the town hall but I have just started planning and have no clue where to begin.

We have an approx budget of £7,000 to £10,000 and will be taking around 30 guests along to share our day.

I have no idea about what photographers to use/florists/hair and makeup etc. Does anyone have any useful contacts/recommendations for any of these?

I would also like a traditional family run type of restaurant which does really really good Italian food for the reception, any ideas? I have seen a couple but it's so difficult! Ideally I would like to get a shortlist of a few and then go for a weekend to sample and narrow it down!

Has anyone had experience of using a wedding planner? Or is it fairly easy to sort out yourself, bearing in mind that I don't want costs to sky rocket!!

    Thank youu!!

    Xxx

Have a look on places like trip advisor and see if there is a wedding forum for italy i know it sounds bizarre but thats the best place to get recommendations from.
have you booked your hotel? My wedding planner comes with my venue and is fantastic and we have sorted a lot out ourselves to photographer flowers officiant transport and other bits.

Google a few restaurants and have a look at menus and if you like them email them direct and ask if they can do something special for you xx

That's a good idea, I've looked on trip advisor, found one of the best rated restaurants in bardolino so that's one option! Found a forum on wedding in lake Garda too which will be helpful. Thanks for the idea!

I do now, I have makeup sorted and think I might do my own hair, going to get some practice now to see if I can do it myself.
I am also going to email travel agents who can sort out the legal ceremony/use wedding planner for only this aspect (it's one I don't want to risk getting wrong!!)

Wish I had a photographer in my family!!

Congrats. I have just booked my Italian honeymoon today as we both love Italy. I would say that trip advisor is great for working out where to stay etc so you won't be disappointed. Your travel agent should be able to put together a good package for you. We found that if you want something specific then the co op is great for doing separate flights, hotels etc where as the others couldn't cater for what we wanted. You may find that you don't want to spend the whole time in the lakes but want to spend some time in some of the others cities etc. You may find some of them will be able to do the whole package for you so you don't have to worry about flowers, photographers etc. Just shop around and see who can give you the best deal.

    Hi,

I am getting married in Lake Garda this June. With the help of some people here I found a great website -

    *****************
You can use them to plan your wedding or just for advice. They have a whole range of suppliers' contact details with loads of info.

I'm using a wedding planner for everything, but in hindsight I would have just used her for the ceremony, reception venue and legal stuff and planned all the extras like flowers, music etc myself. She is very useful with the legalities and it's reassuring having some-one with intricate knowledge. Her fee wasn't too bad (£800) and it was a one-off nomatter how much I pester her!

Good luck with everything, if you'd like more info feel free to ask.

    Laois xo

this is so weird! I just looked at this thread last night as I'm planning on getting married in torri del benaco on the Lake garda! There's loads of wedding planners 4 the Lake garda! It just depends on who u feel comfortable with. Some of them even do tours and if u book with them, they will take the cost of the tour off.

We booked our honeymoon on Sunday to Lake Garda!! We are staying in Limone. When we went to Italy in 09 we had a day trip to Riva del Garda, Lake garda and its beautiful, so peaceful. There was a wedding going on when we went. I don't really have any tips though, sorry! :) x
