we have decided to have afternoon tea as our wedding breakfast and at 9.50 per head its brilliant. Now for 13 a head we can supply our own cheese cake aswell and they will supply pickles fruit nuts and homemade crackers. Which i dont think is bad for a wedding breafast especially as tea and coffee are included in that price too.
now we're just trying to figure out something for the evening buffet. I would like something hot. I dont want sandwiches or wraps or pizza or the dreaded sausage roll anywhere, especially as there on the lunch menu.
I asked about hog roast, or roast meat and baps with some hot potoates and salad but she thought it would probably be more costly as they dont do it in the first place. she said she could do bacon sarnies, but tbh i dont think thats going to be enough for everyone. So i thought maybe a selection of curries. what you think?
I told her about 12 per head but that depends on weather i need to cater for every guest or not. If i do it will be like half of that. The trouble is we're havign the wedding where someoen famous owns it. Yup delia smith so nothing going to be really cheap but my god they like to add stuff sneak it in. Like i said yes to biscuits and pickles but they added nuts and fruit. (which i know wont be eaten)
Anyhow back on subject. What suggestions do you girls have. I would love more of a meal but a meal which could be easily done as in more of a one pot thing so i dont have to have high costs because it all needs to be done in certain ways etc. I hope that makes sense. lol
i just want to get this food sorted. Its been a stress for months now.

Im not a curry fan and neither is h2b :-( We are stuck with what to have for our brekkie tho so far we have our wedding cake as dessert lol. But at the reception we have just gone for bacon butties :-) cheaper and as we are having a late wedding most of the guests will still be full from the brekkie and the ones just going to the reception i will warn that is the only thing available so eat before hand if they wish. But the reception doesnt start till 7-7.30 so hopefully they will eat before then anyway.

macaroni cheese!! its one of the things I am gonna dicuss with my venue for my evening buffet. That and stovies as the meat option. I LOVE macaroni cheese though, and its ace for sooking up a bit of alcohol so you can go drink some more.

i love bacon buttys but our wedding breakfast involves sandwiches and cakes so i want something a bit more filling. Of course there wouldnt be hot curries. My partner sweats at a korma but loves it and other curries.
sorry linz i dont like macaroni cheese unless its drowned in tomato ketchup. Which defies the whole point of having it lol

I personally love a curry and so does my h2b, we are having some curry things like samosas within our buffet. I can't see many complaining at the idea and if they don't fancy it they surely would have had enough grub at the afternoon tea. Curry and drink, perfect, lol. If anyone is still hungry afterwards or didn't want to eat curry then McD's is open pretty late! :) x

I can't stand indian curry's. Love thai curry's though. I also can't eat indian coz they use butter to cook em with, and the smell of a curry makes me ill.
How about chilli and jacket spud - that always seems to go down well???
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

Our guests have a choice of Fish and Chips or Bangers and Mash for our wedding breakfast. I'm struggling for the evening, but think we'll probably go for pizzas/sandwiches and roasties. I like the ides of jacket spuds.. warm, filling and shouldn't cost you too much either. x

I wouldn't fancy curry unless it was a Korma or Madras. I think people like so many different ones, some like hot, others like mild etc. Have you thought about getting someone in to do the hogroast? There are caterers who just specialise in that alone, you often see them at air festivals or fireworks events. You may be surprised at how reasonable they are and most venues aren't opposed to them as they bring all their own gear etc xx
JD is taken so I'll settle for being Mrs Marge :o)
