Hi ladies, just had a quote back from the florist we like, and wanted to get some thoughts; it's £730 and includes:

    2 pedestal arrangements
2 'pew ends' (large roses for the back of mine and OHs chairs for the ceremony)
    7 button-holes (roses)
    1 very large bridal bouquet
    1 slightly smaller MOH bouquet
    3 bridesmaids bouquets
1 flower girl bouquet (all bouquets will be hand-tied, with roses)
6 small fishbowl vases filled with hydrangea
3 large fishbowl vases with hand-tied posies of roses
    Delivery and set-up (and removal)

I've emailed back to ask about slightly smaller bouquets for the bridesmaids and MOH, to see if I can shave some money off, and we're also toying with having hydrangeas rather than roses for the bridesmaids and flower girl bouquets, and a mixture of hydrangeas and roses for mine and MOHs bouquets.

How does this sound though? What are you all paying, and what is that getting you?

Seems very good to me... but might be worth comparing to other florists in your area. x

Sounds ok (without seeing the quality of her arrangements). I would get other quotes as well just so you have other comparisons.

    I've been quoted:

Bridal Shower Bouqet - silk Lilies and Roses
MOH posy - silk Lilies and roses
7 button holes - Chrysanthemums (real)
Flower basket of mainly chrysanthemums (real)
Thank you bouquet of lilies and roses (real)

for £225... I'm not sure if mine is good either :-/ xxx

Thanks guys! I got three ball-park quotes before arranging to see this one for a more detailed quote, and they were all roughly the same (one was cheaper for the bridal bouquet, but, the bouquet was smaller); we decided to get a detailed quote from this florist as they were more the style we wanted than the others, plus they're like 5 minutes from the venue (so, no worrying about cars breaking down given my OCD and paranoia! lol)

Just wanted to make sure it's not too high as I don't know the first thing about flowers. Our original budget was £500, this was without pedestals, and with fewer fishbowls; my dad insisted on pedestals (he's paying, so I'm not going to argue lol) which drove it up.

I'm hoping that the hydrangeas rather than roses will be cheaper though, which would be great; even shaving £50 off would help..

Georgi: that sounds quite good to me, but, I know NOTHING about flowers lol. I felt like such a moron trying to explain what I wanted, I don't know what anythings called or when it's in season lol.

I don't know anything about flowers either so you're not on your own ! My mum is sorting my flowers out with me nearer the time.. She thinks it's far too early to be thinking of such things :-( I'd like to get it sorted sooner though so it's one more thing checked off ! xxx

Georgi: we have less time to go than you, but, still a lot of time! We just want things sorted so we know they're done and dusted and aren't worrying about them; our deadline for most things (bar OHs suits and the bridesmaids dresses) is June lol. However, they've said we can confirm colours nearer the time, which is good, as I don't know what the bridesmaids are wearing yet lol

I think that sounds pretty good to me, I've been told for centrepiece flowers to expect about £50-80 for each table so that'd be about £400 just for the tables in my area... I think u should go with them, the quote sounds v.good x

I think it's reasonable too, although I too don't know anything about flowers!

I certainly don't think you will get all that in the style/quality you want for much cheaper, especially as they're delivering and setting up too... Xx

I know nowt about flowers :).. (mine are all artificial - stepdaughter has bad hayfever)

    I've got one brides bouquet
    4 bridesmaids bouquets
    2 flower girl pomanders
    flowers for cake
    one bridegroom buttonhole
    one best man buttonhole

    £200...

seems like quite a lot compared to others but not to worry - her work is very good and she's very popular and we've had lots of consultations which is good

the centerpieces will be 12 long-stemmed cream roses from the bloke on the local market at £5 a bunch - I've known him for years and I'll pick them all up on the way back from hairdressers.
