So I've found my dream dress on an auction website… The only problem I have is - it's covered in fake tan. Did anyone have this issue with their wedding dress and did it come out in the dry cleaning process?

The bidding has started at a (shockingly) low price to compensate this, so I don't mind having to dry clean it myself.

Also, my wedding is not until July 2015 (budgeting and saving dependant!) - but I have my heart set on this dress. Am I mad to buy it now?

well if its sooo cheap then maybe its worth the risk! fake tan is notoriously hard to get out of clothes but dry cleaning may do it and if not then you have plenty of time to find a replacement . i think for me it owuld depend on how cheap and if i could risk to lose thatmoney if the answer is yes then go for it!

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

I agree with Laura about if you think the risk is worth it.. And dry cleaners can work absolute wonders sometimes !! Maybe g00gle a couple in your area and just ring them up and ask ?? xxx

I've seen this dress sell for £800 second hand - this one starts bidding at £375. I was actually looking at Chinese custom dresses, and was going to spend £200 - which would have been harder to sell on if I didn't like it. At least I know this is a real designer dress. I have g00gled fake tan dry cleaning and I've read a lot of positive stories. I think it might be worth taking a risk! Someone has suggested going to a bridal shop and asking for their recommendation on a dry cleaner - could be worth a shout!

I bought my wedding dress pre loved for £250 (brand new was £1600) because I loved the corset on it! My MIL and I are in the process of changing the material on the bottom of the dress.. But the dress had fake tan on it and I took it to the dry cleaners and there's not a mark on it now, don't get me wrong it cost £100 and it took a week for me to get it back but it was more than worth it! :) x

Thanks guys! I phoned the local dry cleaners and they had said 'they'd give it a go', which wasn't the definitive answer I was after! I've given it more thought, and although the dress is drastically reduced, I'm just not 100% sure on it and it was just the fact it was a total bargain that was sucking me in!

When it comes to my dress, I don't think I'll ever try one on and think "it's the one". I'm just too fussy for that - there's always something I don't like on a dress lol! I think I'll just have to settle for a dress and maybe add bits to it that I like, like a belt for example.

I know I want a lace dress with bateau neckline that's fitted with a slight mermaid shape to it….

Being slighted addicted to fake tan i have managed to get it on possibly everything possible at some point or another !! i brought some fake tan remover which really has worked on the fast majority of things i have used it on, therefore i can only assume that a dry cleaner should be able to get it out with out a problem. I would say dont get sucked in because of the price, you can get some stunning dresses brand new in the sales and by the time you get married this dress may well be discontninued or older stock and reduced somewhere. x

I think you need to find out when the dress was worn as the longer the fake tan is there the harder it is to get off, if its within the last six months you've got a good chance of it coming out, anything over 6 months and the risk gets higher that it won't as it gets more and more ground in x

I PM'd the woman on eBay - she got married in April. I think I'll maybe hold off - I have til 2015 before my wedding so maybe I should give the dress a bit more thought like LauraT says!
