the hog roast is on the list of evening reception options as catered by our venue.we're not allowed outside caterers either! i'd never had one before til i went to an evening wedding reception earlier this yr,and had always wondered what the hype was about, and i loved it!x

i'm not one for finger buffets...well i am,but with the ones for weddings, theres only certain things i'm being allowed to pick,i'm not allowed to pick anything thats not on the choice menu, and i think ur food should be about u,and not what the majority of ppl like...we're paying for it after all!x

Bacon baps and chips :-) £5/head for the bacon baps and I think £1 per portion of chips. But then we won't be eating the main meal until about 6-6.30pm so I figured they'd only need a little something later, plus something for the (very few) evening only guests.

You'd be surprised Kelly, Hog Roasts tend to have loads of salads and things to go with them. I never had any trouble with them as a veggie :)
CommentAuthorLittlegerald
We are having a hot and cold buffet in the daytime and a finger buffet in the evening. I don't like the idea of only having one option of food. The reception venue is quite good on price so we have a lot of choice :)

We wanted a hog roast but same story as others, the venue we chose can't do it, then we were going to have a bbq but the chef quit (arrrrggggghhhhh) so we have now finalised the evening venue and have told them what we want, their wedding buffet menu was awful!! So me being me ;0) persuaded them to let us have the non-fancy finger buffet style food. If your caterers want your money and make the day special they should be able to bend a bit. x
oh I do I do I dooooo!!!
oh I did I did I did!!

hope so,i might go back to my venue and see if i can twist their arms on the stuff that comes with it,we only get potato salad and coleslaw as far as i can think back!but i'm not a major fan of potato salad,i think its a bit bland,i'd rather have some mediterranean style pastas or something...gonna go see what they can do in the next couple of weeks x

we were offered a buffet for the eveing then they said we could have the BBQ instead .....when we looked at the food there were a few things we didnt want ....such as corn on the cob, not a good idea in wedding clothes !!!! so we have asked if we can change the bits we dont want for desserts ......answer was yes no probs ....
yeah hopefully it'll be like that for us, we're spending enough money with them ! :=) x

CommentAuthorhjl2001uk
we're having a hog roast for the wedding breakfast the bacon rolls for the evening. We're gonna be looking like piggies but I do love a good bacon sarnie and a bit of crackling. We were gonna have a sit down meal but the hog roast caterer is doing canapes, main meal and evening all for half the price of just the sit down meal originally quoted by the venue.

We're having a finger buffet, party style stuff. I'm inclined to buy it all from Tesco and have someone in the family set it up for us, gotta be cheaper than hiring a caterer
