That's a great idea hun!! :-) not having one myself, because am having so many guests that will need a couple of tiers to serve everyone, but definitely a great idea to build the size up :-) xxx

Thats a great idea. A lot of people are having fake tiers in their cake with maybe one real one x

We was given this idea, but we've decided to just have a fake bottom layer and have the two top layers as an actual cake instead x

yeah i want a 4 tier cake, so were going to do the bottom one real so we have something to cut in the pictures. look silly ctting a cake and bits of polystyrene flying out hahah.

im going to decorate it myself i think, i want a pretty plain and simple cake with the lace wrap around and ribbon. then my step mum makes the most amaing cake but shes not the greatest icer so she will make one for out the back we can cut and serve up. x

Lol yeah that's why we'll be cutting the middle layer instead, not sure whether we'll be giving our cake out to eat so thought we'd save more money by having the bottom layer false x

We decided to have cupcakes as it was a lot cheaper than a cake. If we would have had cake we probably would have made a few fake tiers x x

My mum is a prof cake maker so im getting my 7 tier monster for free .. but if i had to buy it out of my own pocket i'd defo go for dummy cake, i couldnt justify spending that much on a cake personally :)

definitely a popular thing. we were originally going for a 3 tier with only 2 real and one dummy due to lack of numbers therefore waste of cake but now we're having such a variety of flavours we're having all 3, just the smaller sizes!
But dummy is usually made out of styrophone or whatever it is so best to put it on top as the lightest. are you making the actual cake yourself or getting someone to do it? most professionals will be able to make it all for you, dummy layer included. xx

Have thought about doing this, but can buy 3 single tiers from a lovely posh shop (what i wouls call posh) for like £54 might be a tiny bit more. Thats 3 tiers of sponge or can make it fruit. Then me and my friend are going to try make some cupcakes and see how they turn out, then have lots of them too :) Was quoted far to much for a 3 tier cake to be made, but cant afford it flat out, and was quoted £110 for 100 cupcakes, which is good but can make 100 for cheaper so going to give it a try :)

I know it was scandalous. Most of it was fake but there was 1 or 2 tiers real. It was because of the weight of it.
