I am finding it extremely difficult to find bridesmaid dresses in the green that I am looking for. We have a nature/rustic theme with mostly green things (all different shades) including the men's cravats which we have already purchased. We are not necessarily looking for the exact shade that the cravats are but a green that complements it which may be darker or lighter. All the green dresses about are sage, olive, mint or dark racing green nothing like the apple green we would like.

I have spent nearly a year looking and am now considering just giving up and going for another colour. My MOH was possibly having a yellow dress but now I am considering them all having yellow dresses as there are loads about in a nice lemon shade. I thought this would look good as we have accents of yellow here and there. I would rather have yellow dresses than green ones that aren't quiet right. My h2b on the other hand thinks it will look stupid and the dresses need to match the cravats and the main colour of the theme. I was inspired by some lovely yellow bridesmaids (pictures in my bridesmaid photo album).

What do you think of having a yellow bridesmaid dresses among a largely green theme? Please help me out here with honest opinions because this is driving me insane!!

i personally dont think the dresses need to match the cravats, my bridemaids are having different colours to the mens, but im putting both colours into my bouquet to bring the colours together
    good luck

i dont think they need to match, but i reckon the colour you're after will probably be quite popular in spring, if you can afford to wait? xx

Well I've always gone with the thought that the BM need to match the BM and ushers etc. But to be honest, not many people do this now and just go with whatever colour they like. Could you not do yellow for the men and stay with the green dress? Or pick up on other colours in your bouquet / theme for the men's cravats - after all it's only a little bit of fabric, the BM dress will be noticed more

if it helps, my bridesmaids are wearing aqua blue and our colour scheme is aqua and cerise pink. But adam (groom) is wearing either a silver or ivory cravat and his best man will probably be wearing cerise or a blue cravat - we definitely wont be able to match the blue of the dresses so we're going to go for either the nearest match we can, or incorporate the pink. And my bouquet doesn't have any blue in it at all, its cerise, orange and yellow! lol

Thanks girls, my bouquet has flowers that are kinda yellow in the middle which will tie them in a bit.
Sara - good plan to wait til spring, I think I might do that just in case. Your colours sound gorgeous, seems like your not bothered about matching but it should look good!
Sijen - I've spend £70 on the cravats so want to keep them really and also my h2b is Mr Green so wanna have him wearing green lol!
Kimmie- that sounds really lovely, I would like to do that, having a darker or lighter dress but can't find any decent ones! argh!

i am sort of bothered, but the blue of the girls dresses doesn't seem to have a matching cravat colour at Youngs (which is where they're coming from) so I figured it'd be easier to get bm to wear the cerise. If he doesn't want to though, I'm not fussed. I just want our wedding to be bright and bold, and if it doesn't match so what? I can't get chair sashes etc to match the same colour so somewhere close is good enough for me - i don't imagine people will be standing around thinking 'oooh, those blues aren't a perfect match' :o) xx

Sorry if it sounded like I was being horrible saying your not bothered! Probably could have worded that better. We are getting suits at greenwoods and they didn't have the right green cravats so i went and bought some because i'm silly like that. I think your wedding will look amazing with those two colours! Guess what though, I've managed to find the perfect dresses on eaby so gonna go for green bridesmaids and yellow MOH :) Just about to add pic to album xxx

when I got married the first time my parents paid for most of it and my dad said to me that if my dress has to be kept secrect and a surprise, then so does the suits that my then h2b, dad, best man and pageboy were going to wear, so I had no input which in a way was nice. I had a bluey, turquoise colour for my dresses but they had not seen them so they didnt know exactly. They chose black top hat and tails, with a white shirt and a creamy, ivory pattern waistcoat and a matching cravat and it looked really nice together. So I guess it doesn't really matter, maybe you could get the button holes in the same colour as the bridesmades dresses.x

I personally don't like the matchy matchy thing - mismatched but complimenting I like.

What kind of dresses are you after?

My bridesmaids are wearing emerald green, but am thinking about having all different coloured cravats as I cannot find the right green. My flowers are going to be multi coloured so thought I could get away with it? What do you guys think?
Melliecake - I think the yellow dresses will be lovely with your colours!

I personally think yellow will look lovely with the colours you have chosen for all your decor etc. My bridesmaids are all purple, the groom has purple cravat to match but all the others are having silver, the groom will also have silver waistcoat

No I don't think they have to match, our colour scheme is purple and yellow, the BM's are wearing purple dresses and my h2b is going to wear a tweed suit with a goldy yellow tie, the best man and usher are going to (hopefully) have a tie made out of the same tweed as the suit, so no one's really going to match but I'm not that bothered! It'll all tie in I'm sure xx
