Hey guys, are any of you having toastmasters? My MIL says we absolutely must have one, or the day will be chaos and my other half is really worried about it all running smoothly, but I just think it may be unnecessary expense! Am sure between my wedding party/photographer/myself we can get people organised and in the right place at the right time! I do however like the idea of someone taking control and not having the stress and also the sense of occasion and ceremony that comes with one! Have looked on a couple of websites but none give any idea of price, does anyone know roughly what they cost? I'm in Harrow, NW London/Middlesex, anyone know of any in the area? Thanks girls! C x

Our's doesn't, they've got a guy they recommend. He seems quite nice. Asked him how much he charges and he kind of just skirted around the question and I couldn't even get a rough idea from him, lol! x

NO you dont need one BUT they do make life easier and more controlled on the day! Most venues these days provide them in their packages so ask at yours. Ive seen them range from £300 to £500 but anyone with a nice clear voice could do it so maybe if you have an uncle or male relative who you want involved in your day but dont know how maybe they could do this for you????

They are an unnecessary expense in my opinion. We're not having one at all, and I cannot see why your day cannot run smoothly without one. Why will it be chaos without one? I don't understand. That's why you have ushers after all. Add to that, the unnecessary toast to the queen during the speeches. Is she attending? I doubt it!:-)
Save your cash, and put it in the nookie cookie jar!;o))))
whats a toastmaster? lol! Shows we are not having one as i dont even know what one is! ha ha

Lol, good points. Thanks guys. I have a big gay best friend who's upset about not being bridesmaid (he's 6' 3" and 30 stone and wonders why he can't wear a dress...!) but speaks very nicely and would love to be involved... maybe I could rope him in to do it!

Our venue is providing one. they are handy for getting things going the right way in a timely manner.....if it was left to us we would probably not know what do do and when to do it. I wouldnt pay for one if we wasnt having one included in the package though.
I can resist anything but temptation

I personally wouldn't have a toast master, just would make me feel strange having someone that involved with the reception that wasn't a personal friend or family member. xx

We had my sister's husband as toastmaster - he was brilliant, and I'm very pleased that we got him involved in the day.

The Castle manager is our toastmaster. She loves to get really involved with the day and she is apparently very good at it to according to our piper.

Our hotel events manager is going to do it for us or we can have a family member x

We are using our best man to do it or my dad - both have big voices so can do it. I think its a waste of money unless it comes included xxx

H2B's uncle could be ours, if not then I will ask our DJ to do it as I want them there from 5pm anyway when the guests start arriving at the reception venue. No reason why they couldnt do it, or H2B's uncle cant grab the microphone and introduce us, announce cake cutting and first dance etc...

No suzky, they don't provide one. There's one they recommend but I can't seem to get a straight answer on cost! I think you're all right that using friend/family is the best idea. Maybe I'll audition them to see who has the biggest voice... Lol. X
