Was looking through Debenhams the other day with H2B and found a suit he looked great in, a nehru style one in black with a sort of rose print texture, made him look very suave and sophisticated and collarless shirts always look nice on him anyway. So now he has got a bit of enthusiasm for what he is going to be wearing and was doing some research online last night. Oh dear. What can I say? We have quite different ideas. My idea - smart, black suit. His idea - black goth style jacket with long tails and lots of chrome buttons. Dont get me wrong, love the jacket, but not for our wedding. But he has his heart set on that style, he is quite an individual anyway and no-one would be surprised to see him turn up in something unusual but I suppose I just wanted something elegant, and something that would go with my dress! If I was wearing some sort of black Goth dress it would match wonderfully, but my dress is a Maggie, lots of lace and very pretty pretty. Not sure it would look at all right? What do you think I should do? Bite my tongue and let him wear what he wants or try to steer him back towards sensible?

He maybe testing you.... but you could suggest that he trys to match you a little at the service.... how much is the goth coat, could he have both one for the service and pics and then the other for the evening.

Thats a good idea, two suits! Dont think he would pay for two though... he's very ultra careful with money!

Aww hun i hope he understands how important it is to you that he looks smart and ellegant but at the same time its his day too, if thats what he wants say you have no objections to him wearing that jacket to the reception but to be married in and have pics then you would like him in a smart suit :) xx

Its very difficult, I love him because he is a little 'off the wall' so can hardly expect him to be something he's not on the day. I love him for the crazy man he is - guess I will just have to wait and see what he decides on nearer the day and just rejoice in his individuality!

I know - H2B bought a roll of wrapping paper in town on Sunday, was walking around the shops afterwards beating my backside with it all the time. So childish ;)

I know the feeling. My other half has turned around and said that he isn't going to have cravats as his dad said he doesn't like the idea even though he wears shirts and ties all the time. I can't see the difference myself between wearing a tie and wearing a cravat. My h2b is trying to please everyone else rather than doing what we want. I'm just going to let him get on with it as I know he will look smart. It just narks me a bit that he is doing it for someone else rather than it being his choice. I'm not sure what I would do to be honest if I knew he was going to wear goth clothes. In a way that is the person you are marrying but at the same time I can understand that it doesn't go with the style of dress you are wearing. Maybe you could say to him that it will look odd next to your dress and see what he says then.
