My church doesn't allow confetti as it goes right on to the street, however, H2B and I have bought LOADS of champagne glass bubbles, enough for just under 1 bubble bottle per guest (assuming not everyone will be bothered about it and people will share!)... subsequently, I've thought about dress staining both for me and what will be delicately coloured chiffon /satin bridesmaids gowns and other guests too!
Is it likely they will stain? Anyone had any experience? If the dresses were subsequently dry cleaned would the stain come out (thinking for BM dresses as we'd like them to be able to re-wear them!) seeing as its normally just a detregent based mix?
We can't have flower petal confetti outside the church either but can have it at the reception. We really like the idea of bubbles for the photos and atmosphere... anybody had any experience or suggestions?!
We're having bubbles on the tables too to fill the room with them!
Ive thought about bubbles too.. i love them! Theyre so pretty :) x

Bubbles are a great idea, what about a bubble machine in the corner, just so your photos aren't constantly full of people blowing bubbles and funny faces haha. You can pick up little ones quite cheap from @sd@ (Y) xx

If the dress can be washed then the bubbles shouldn't be a problem since they are basically soap & water.
Kinda off topic but most wedding dresses are washable, even if they say dry clean only. I helped my friend wash her Maggie and it came out like new. I've heard that many dry cleaners use their industrial sized washers to "dry clean" wedding dresses. At first I didn't believe this, but after cleaning the dress at home I believe it!
I had a post about this not long ago and someone mentioned staining. I don't really think they could stain noticeably but as I really want bubbles I'm going to get a large piece of material same as the dress I'm having and will blow bubbles onto it and see what happens. If it stains then I will need to find an alternative but if it is ok then paying a few £s for a piece of material is easier to try than ruining my expensive dress x

I hope so, I'm just worried that when/if they hit the white silk on the bodice of my dress they may leave little circles! My dress won't be machine washable due to the delicate nature of the lace, beading and silk plus the embellishments, and I wouldn't chance it either but thanks for the point anyway.
I can't think of any other good alternatives around the no actual confetti allowed outside the church other than nothing!
Hopefully my photographer is good enough that she'll be more creative at capturing people than taking multiple silly face as they blow bubbles! But it's a good point I should consider! :)

I'd be worried too.. I spent £60 on a silk corset that I only wore once because some drunken idiot spilt a bottle of water over me and the dry cleaners couldn't do anything about it.. Apparently water stains silk... xxx

Eek!
I'll have to get my bridesmaids and H2b to safeguard me against the bubbles then! And have some bubble police! Haha! Maybe I'll put a polite sign on the basket of bubbles to not blow them directly at the bride and groom!
And we lived happily ever after!

OH EM GEE! PAPER AEROPLANES WOULD BE PERFECT! he's a pilot and I'm an air traffic controller! Might have to have the page boy on picking up duties though! Same issue as confetti I suppose on the street...
