I have purchased my wedding dress and have always envisaged that I would be wearing a veil. As my wedding dress is red, I can't wear a white or ivory one and I'm not keen on the ones with just a red trim on them. For those of you who remember Paula Yates, she wore a red wedding dress and a red veil and I just wondered what your thoughts are?

ive seen the red veils at wedding shows in the past and they dont look too bad at all. at the end of the day you should probably try something close to one and see what you think cos at the end of the day you are the one making the choice of wearing it. i think it be nice as its different.
good luck
xx

I think you should go for it. If possible one like Paula Yates as that is a very nice veil. Best option is to try as many as possible until you are comfortable x

I think with a dress that's completely red like that, a white veil would look really out of place. Maybe a red one with lots of white diamontes on so the red isn't too over powering?
Would you say that her veil was tulle? I could buy a white one and dye it

I agree that a white veil would look a bit odd - I think red would be the best way to go - if its fairly light fabric (as in weight not colour) it wont look too dark or overwhelming and will set the dress off nicely Beautiful dress too x

I voted no.
I am wearing a black cathedral lengh veil with my black dress, but I looked at the picture of the red dress and red veil and it takes away from the beauty of the dress. Its such a statement gown that it shouldnt have to compete with a veil. Do you see what I mean?
Have you thought of a birdcade veil? either in black or red? then can be as long, short, discrete or lavish as you like?

i'm with Aurora, i think that a birdcage veil or nothing at all would be great :-) i just think it could be a bit bold and bright, nothing against it, just personally i would just stick with your tiara and put red diamantes through your hair or something

Thanks ladies - It's just so annoying when you have a picture in your head of what a "bride" looks like. I did think of a birdcage veil but I'm not querky in that sense, I'm more over the top - so it definitely wouldn't be me (if you get what I mean).
Nickers - That's what I was thinking of doing, as I love bling.
I wouldn't wear it all day and night and I was possibly thinking of a 4 tier tulle one and then I would add lots of crystals so it matches the dress.
I'm still not sure of what to do??????
If any of you lovely ladies comes across a veil type and style that you think would compliment the dress, can you post me some pictures. I can buy it in white and just dye it :)

what about a single tier cut edge red veil that you can up under your hair and it falls down your back.
You get to wear a veil and its understated?

Aurora - Is that the ones that are white with a red trim?

I agree with Aurora a simple single tier red veil coming from under your hair at the back would look stunning but would not detract from your magnificant dress x

I'd say go for a fabulous red cathedral length veil with red crystal accents. I think that clear crystals would look wrong on a red veil.
If you're over the top, celebrate it!

Okay... I went a bit over the top there! ;-)

Special - Will it matter that the diamantes on the dress are clear, if the ones on the veil are red?
I think I have decided to wear a red veil and have found a few styles that I like. What do you think?

I hadn't noticed the clear diamantes on your dress. I think I'd still stick with red diamantes on your veil. You want it to be an accent to your dress rather than the focus.
I think I like the third one best. The first one looks a little bit like it's swallowing her whole!

Lol ye I've actually got a very small head as it is, without looking like a shrunken head. Do you know what style it is called?

Fab post... I too am having a red dress and dreamt of a veil but I resigned myself to the fact that I couldn't get one and a tiara would be my only option..... nut now I know otherwise!!

I think your dress is so beautiful that a cathedral length veil, in red with red accents would look absolutely stunning but as much as you are over the top, I don't think the veil should be as "full" as the one in the pics, they are very full lol and you want all eyes on your dress, not the top of your head xx
