Hello I am getting married in February, having the weeding in a chatolic church near me. the church I am getting married in just asks for a donation to be made for using the church, what do you think is a good donation to give, I don't really have a clue what I should give and I have no one to help me with the wedding apart from my partner but he is more clueless than I am.

i would give what ever you feel comfortable with giving and what you can afford after all its a donation and not a set amount like some churches are depends if your trying to do a wedding on a budget, you could always ask the vicar what is an ideal amount. x

For a basic ceremony for us its £426 (CoE) if that's of any help. Maybe ask one of the congregation who have been married there what they gave.
We're having a Catholic Church wedding. Our priest also said there is no charge but that they welcome a donation. He suggested £100 but that couples give what they can afford so it doesn't have to be £100.
H2B and I decided that was not enough though and will be giving more (I won't say how much more on here though).

I would say about 100-200, I think when it comes to churches they are happy with whatever they are given. x

If your budget strapped, how about a modest cash donation, and then a donation of your time?
Ie pledge to spend time helping out with Sunday school, tidying the grounds, helping with a church event or something like that? Xx

In fact, this is the priest's sermon this morning after the gospel reading...................... about giving, not just the money you can afford to give but also sacrificing your time for the community and Church by taking part in music groups, being a reader, running the group for Children etc.
