its costing us a £70 quid admin fee then £430 that includes servive 2 vergers order of service and flowers, bell ringers are 130 extra choir 55 and if we want the church heated 100quid! but our vicar told us theres being a reform in november so all churches have to charge the same amount from what she said its going to get cheaper :P

our church is costing us £550 in total but that inculdes the choir, organist and the bells. but do remember that all church charge different amounts xx

Each church charges what they like at the moment so it will be interesting to see just what they charge when the reform comes in. I've got to give a donation for the blessing as they don't charge for that but I have no idea how much we should give.

i had the same with my daughter christening my mum was fuming coz she is a catholic and thinks the church my little one attends is all about money and thats not what faith is about (my mum loves to rant!) haha xx

i got quoted 450 but that was just for the church, that does include any fees though so i guess if your paying a registrar it evens it out... but the church i was looking at wont allow photos during the ceremony or even a videographer, but you can have pics after. i was like whats the point in after, it will just look daft us stood there smiling, want to catch that moment when i walk down the aisle and h2b gets a tear in his eye (or he better or i will poke him in it to make him hehehe) xx

Well my dilemma is that we are paying out to get married in Bosworth hall and just having the blessing in the church. We are paying for the bells choir and organist but the blessing itself is 'free' we just have to give a donation. As we are already paying out ££££££ for the legal wedding its going to make it expensive if we start paying high fees for the blessing. I don't think if you are paying for the legal wedding that you need to give a donation.

Well we are having a civil service but it was important to h2b to have a blessing so this was a perfect compromise for us as the church is in the same grounds as our venue. Its really pretty as well so will make for some great photos. Just wish they would make things more clear.

£100 for the church for us!! £40 for the registrar. My family attend the church and the priest said thats all they would expect. As for the flowers they have suggested we go along with them to the flower market that week and they will use our colours for the regular church flowers at no extra cost. We can decorate accordingly but must clear away afterwards. They're not bothered about the videographer either - priest specified that so long as he/she doesn't get in the way of the service/mass he ain't bothered. xx

Before I thought about our wedding I just expected that church weddings don't cost that much money, how silly and foolish was i? When we were looking at church weddings (before we decided to get married at our venue) I desperately wanted Dunfermline Abbey. I don't know if anyone knows it but it is beautiful and Robert the Bruce's heart is buried there, so there is tons of history. We were shocked when we heard it would've cost in the region of £1000 and I don't even know what that included, I was too shocked to find out!!! lol. xxx

Sorry to hijack your thread but didnt want to start another on church costs, even though its a bit of a moan, but on the plus side answers ur question, got email from vicar:
Publication of banns: £22 Marriage service: £262 Organ: £85 Additional organ fees for video: £65 Choir £80 Bells £135 Permission for video: £60 Marriage certificate: £3.50
all seems reasonablish, but my first moan is: they pay the bell ringers £10 each (my friend rings bells at this church and told me) so its either 5 or 8 ringers thats £50-£80, so really what are they spending the other £55 on, is someone spit polishing each bell
and then to add to the cost as im getting married outside of my parish: pay an addition £34 to the church of the parish you live, and there is a suggested donation to us if you are getting married under qualifying connection of £50, a donation for what, maybe i should just live with mum and dad for the next year, in the village i have lived in for 23 yrs, and was christened in, and my grandparents lived in for 30 plus years to avoid a £50 donation, presumable for putting them out for requesting to marry in a church that was my parish church for 23 yrs, but hasnt been for the past 9 months grrrrr!!!!

they are : £280 to the government! £240 to the church £75 to the organist £20 to the verger
so all together mine is £615 sshheeesh lol xx

Ours is in h2b's catholic church and I think we've to make a donation. (H2b is in charge of this part)
So basically give the church a bung, the organist a bung, then decide if we want choir etc who will also need a bung. lol. On the plus side they will make sure they have fresh flowers in on the day etc. xx

dont forget with catholic though you have to give notice 33quid each and not many catholic priests can actually register the marriage so u may need a registrar too so an extra 80quid approx x
