Just wondered who had gone down this route? Sadley i lost my best friend to Cystic Fibrosis 9 yrs ago now and i thought as a tribute to her i would have some sort of wedding favour for CFtrust. I have been looking on the net and cant seem to find anything other than cancer charities offering this kind of service, has anybody come across this on their internet travels?

That's a nice idea hun..... I can't find any cystic fibrosis favours either.... but you could always make some little cards saying.... I donation has been made on your behalf in celebration of our wedding.... or something along those lines....

We're going to get cancer charity favours x

One of my really good friends has it (luckily she is still here!) & her mum has run a charity for children with it since we were little. I've put the link on your wall. Let her know you were recommended by me (her daughters name is Ellen) and I'm sure she will be able to organise something for you! xx

I have got contact details for one of their main fundraisers so i may just email her to see if she has any ideas. one of my worries is that a third party gets 90% of the money and charity only gets 10% but at least if i enquire direct i know where its going i suppose.

We are, we are having the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research, both of these charities are very close to us, I have congenital heart disease myself, H2B's biological mother died when he was 7 of a heart defect and he has lost many relatives to cancer (Grandparents). But I am jsut going to go to the shop and buy the badges and make up little business cards that say a donation has been made in your name to and the charity name

Ahh thats a good idea. i think its really touching when you get a wedding favour like this, especially when your friends and family know the history behind it. I have just had an email back from CF and they do wedding favours but dont advertise them, they are going to send me a sample in the post. :-)

I'm having the British Heart Foundation ones too. Am going to make little signs to tell the guests that a donation has been made on behalf of my wedding party. Dad had a heart attack a few years ago, so apart from animal charities its my favourite!

My mum suffers with Maestenia Gravis, a little known disease. Although there is nothing on the MGA website, I know they sell pinbadges at about a pound a pop, they are really cute too, little raggy dolls as MG is known as the rag doll disease. Anyway, mum has contacted the local MG rep, who is procuring the pins for us for our donation. We are thinking of attaching them to a little card explaining that we have donated and a little explanation of the disease.

My brother and he's wife did this at their wedding, for cancer research and alzheimers society as both charities were close to their hearts - was a really lovely idea! x

Just thought I would add and also bump this thread.

After so much time Ive finally found what I want for my favours. On the cancer research website shop they do slimline diaries in pink and blue for £1.99 and as our wedding is in December (2011 or 2012 not sure which yet) I thought this would be a great way of giving my guests something practical that they can keep in handbags etc and also a way of remembering my dad on the day. xxx

That's a good idea. We are thinking of doing the pin badges but maybe for Great Ormond Street Hospital as h2b had a life saving op there at birth & if wasn't for them..well you know x

I haven't done it, h2b doesn't like it as he says he doesn't want to make charitable donations to a charity on someone's behalf as they may not want to make a donation to that charity for whatever reason.
We'd like to buy something from the RSPB shop though for everyone. I love the RSPB, and it isn't a donation, just buying from their shop.

    However, I think it's a wonderful idea :)

Ive just ordered 40 cancer research pins in 2 different styles.

I spoke to h2b and he agreed it would be a really nice idea as my Nan (who helped save my mums life after she tried to commit suicide) died from lung cancer a few years ago, my step-mum has just gone into remission from Breast cancer, my step-grandad has prostate cancer, my step-nan has had breast cancer (4 times) and my grandad has skin, throat AND prostate cancer.

We thought it would be nice to show them all that we haven't forgotten about or disregarded their illnesses, even on our big day, and we thought it would make more sense to give money to a charity that is so close to us all rather then buy some chocolates or almonds that nobody likes :)

I have gone with the cancer research ones. I got the classic pink ribbon pins for everyone and cancer research printed out cards for our place settings saying.... Michaela and Spencer have made a contribution on your behalf to celebrate their wedding 6th nov 2010.

Not sure if theyre still on there but there were some limited edition cupcake design pins for weddings, they looked great too!

When I told a friend whos had cancer what we were doing her hubby was so pleased he matched our donation for all the guests!
