Been thinking of getting some charger plates for my tables in red or black or both

    black charger plates.jpg

But heres my question.......nice or are they a waste of money?

My tables seat 10 and are round. I will only have water glasses on the tables as everything else is cash only so that will clear up a little space I'm just not sure if they will be too much?

I could do them just for the top table maybe??

They are very large we have gold ones at home and when had tehm out xmas day for dinner table it does become a bit cluttered xxx

I think they lvoely and good idea but with 10 people and 10 of everything could be a bit to much xxx

You'll have to excuse my dimness, but what are charger plates used for? I've heard them mentioned before with regards to weddings, but have never managed to figure out what they're for!!

They are just large plates, we use ours to go under our dinner plates just as a bit of decoration.

So instead of an empty space there will be one of the paltes with the napin etc on untill teh dinenr paltes comes and that then sits on it cxxx

I also think they look lovely and use gold ones at home for Xmas or special occasions, however, I think you maybe should lay them out on a table of ten as they are rather big and can get in the way.

I would also check the size of dinner plates your venue are using, that they fit on them ok and don't wobble (as I bought some dinner plates once and they didn't fit on the charger plates very well, gravy everywhere lol)

    Xx

I didn't even know what a charger plates were until I saw this post so I'm prob not the best person to advise but I'd think about how much room there will be on the table, you don't want there to be too many things.

I think they look gorgeous but only go with them if they don't set you back too much and if the tables once fully set don't lot too cluttered. Sometimes less is more but I like them xxx

Thanks, makes sense now. I don't think I've ever seen a charger plate in use...not saying that as a bad thing, just trying to imagine this new form of crockery! Will you also be having a centre piece, favours, and table confetti? I think it'd definately be a good idea to either get your venue to let you do a quick trial run, or get table sizes from then and do a to-scale lay out in word or something. My initial thought is it'd be a bit too much for all the tables. But I think they'd look nice on just the top table, and could make it look that extra bit special!

I think like u said if there's not lots of glasses on the table, it could make the table look les bare, and bring a bit of colour to the table too xx

Saw some on sale in d0bbies garden centres, around £1.99 each I think if you're looking for some at a reasonable price :-)
