Hi everyone i just need a rant. I phoned a local chair cover company witch gave me a quote over the phone of £248 for 60 chair covers and bows, top table swags and cake table swags, a post box for cards and pillars to line the isle. At the end of the call i said that i wanted lace sashes to go with the chair covers and the lady said it would be a couple of £ more for the lace. I thought this was a good price so when to the shop to order it and the lady put £60 on top for the lace sashes taking it up to £308 well i payed the £100 deposit and left but when i looked at the breakdown of the prices i realised i could get the chair covers and top table cake table swags a lot cheaper else where but because iv payed a deposit i cant cancel. I feel very frustrated. X

Can you go back to the shop and ask them to only supply the sashes and post box as you've found the other items cheaper? They may turn round and say its all or nothing, but they may also either supply just those items so you can get the rest elsewhere or they could match the prices of the other place.

usually sashes are included in the cover price. The company we are using is doing our top table (including table pieces included in the price)

Chair covers are sooooo expensive. I think
You should go back to the shop tell them u want to cancel the order, tell them the reason why they may match the cheaper price. After all some business is better then no business. X

I wouldn't always threaten to take your custom elsewhere staright away as it may backfire! Ask them if they will firstly match the cheaper price, if not ask if you can have some money off or to ajust your package so you have a few things thrown in. if they still wont budge then I would tell them you are unfortunately going to have to take your business elsewhere.

I think if you are rude straight off then they are less inclined to help you!

I'm sorry to say I don't think they will budge on price at all as you accepted their price & paid a deposit. A few of the things I have put a deposit on have got cancellation terms like cancel with 12 months notice for full refund, cancel with 6 months notice receive 75% refund, etc & as your wedding is 2 months away I imagine you would lose your full deposit.
I assume that when she said a couple of £ extra for lace sashes you thought she meant on the total not per sash, if so I would give them a call & politely explain the confusion. Maybe explain that if you had known that you would have looked elsewhere as "such & such company" are cheaper by x amount.

Seems quite expensive to me, I am paying £1.70 per chair cover and coloured sash and 20p extra for a lace sash on top, this is costing me £114.

I have found that the price of chair covers varies massively, one place I found was charging £1 incl delivery and set up and another place wanted £3.99 per chair for the same thing!!
