We're still at the very early stages of wedding discussion, so early that we haven't even chosen our colour scheme yet! This is partly down to the fact that we have chosen 5 bridesmaids (if they all want to do it of course) and 4 of them have red hair. The 5th is a very dark brunette. I'm not very good at this kind of thing, so I was wondering if anyone can suggest suitable coloured bridesmaid dresses for redheads?
Thank You :)

See, I like the idea of green but people keep telling me it's bad luck...suppose that's just me being silly hahaha.
If you go for green as your colour scheme what would you do for flowers? something white?
Sorry, like I said, not good at this sort of thing. I'm avoiding red anyway because my aunty is getting married next year and she's having red so I wanted to do something different.

One of my bm's has red hair and my bm;s have burgandy dresses. I got the dresses the other day (bargain from the bay of e so HAD to get them early hehehe) and was very worried it wouldnt suit her but had a back up plan (2 in burgandy, 2 in black) just in case. Tried it on her friday i think it was and she looks BEAUTIFUL in it :-)her hair looks really good with the colour I think depending on the shade of red heads they are depends on what will suit them hun. Go with them to a shop a nd try on different colours to find one that look good on them. once you have found one that will suit them all then choose the style.

In terms of the shade of red, luckily they're all very similar so that should help a bit. The brunette doesn't worry me at all, I've seen her in all kinds of colours and she seems to suit most (lucky mare!)
At first I thought they should all wear the same style of dress, but a little research has shown that lots of people have their bridesmaids in the same colour but different styles and it looks lovely. I think this would work, especially as the girls currently range in age from 5 to 16! what suits a 16 year old may not be suitable for a 5 year old :)

see this is where the joy of bridesmaids and flowergirls comes in to play. i have 5 flowergirls in one type of dress and 3 bridesmaids in a different style but all in white and all with gems on them

If the dress i have didnt suit my red head i was going to have 3 styles and 3 colours lol luckily it suits and i have them all in the same with the fg in a different style and colour :-)
Mine will range from 4 to 16 too lol Think i have a pic of the dress on my profile and it suits the oldest four who are 7, 10, 13 and 16 :-)......youngest two have straps whereas the oldest two are strapless
Sonia im only the best at pretending to be the best ;-)

My redhead friend wears a lot of deep purple and actually wants that colour for her own wedding.
both me and my two sisters (who are going to be bridesmaids for me) have all got red hair. I went with teal, it looks beautiful
CommentAuthornim
I have 2 bridesmaids one red head and one brown, we are having purple but the other colour we liked was green (tealness) very nice on them!
CommentAuthorPossum
I'm a redhead!!!
Green, emeraldy, looks really good on me. So does dark blue. Orange, red, and especially pink look horrendous. xxx
CommentAuthorceli
I'm a redhead too! Tho i like wearing pink! Green, browns, purples and blues look good on me. What about a gold colour? I'm having my redheaded sister as a bridesmaid and shes wearing a mid-gold colour and it looks lovely x
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
My MOH is a red head and I'm having a light gold which looks stunning on her. She does suit teal as well but its not a colour I would have at my wedding. I would take note of the colours they usually wear everyday and take inspiration from that.
CommentAuthormrs_emily
Thank You for all your suggestions. I think I might borrow the eldest one day and take her shopping. She recently had her school prom and wore a gorgeous dark blue dress that really suited her so that could be an option too.
Luckily I'm not TOO fussy about the colour scheme, as it looks like the biggest consideration is going to be suitable colours for the redheads lol. I'm not a fan of pink so that's not a problem, and as mentioned before someone else in the family is having red so that's out, but also fine.
Who'd have thought things could be so difficult? I've not even started on my own dress yet, and both my mum and future mother in law are in to cake making and have both mentioned helping out with that, so that's another nightmare! Especially as they live at opposite sides of the country, so working together wouldn't really be possible! Looks like we're having two cakes lol!
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Why don't you have one make the wedding cake and the other make a grooms cake? That way they both have something to do :)
CommentAuthormrs_emily
A groom's cake? Is it bad I've never heard of that?

CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
A grooms cake it a cake in the design of the grooms interests so if he likes cricket it might be in the shape of a bat etc. Single women take it home and put it under their pillow so they can dream about their future husband.
CommentAuthormrs_emily
Hmmmm...that is actually a great idea (apart from maybe the pillow part lol) I might add that to the list and discuss it with the mothers!
CommentAuthormrs_emily
Just to update, the eldest bridesmaid who was going to be my dressing up doll to experiment has apparently dyed her hair dark brown!! The next one down age wise lives near London, so looks like I'm going to have to rethink the shopping trip lol.
Anyone have a redheaded teenager I can borrow?
CommentAuthormrsmada
mrs-emily, i had green bridesmaids who carried posies made of ivory roses. my dress wass ivory and i carried pink stargazer lillies and pale pink roses xx
CommentAuthor*Vixie*
id say either navy or dark red would suit red heads. it complements their pale skin and makes their hair look more red. :) xx
CommentAuthorJane
Hi - have a look at my daughter in my photo album - she has red hair and is wearing emerald green, I think it really suits her... x
CommentAuthoryvonne
hi mrs emily, i would say green too..emerald or dark green would suit redheads, don't worry about the bad luck thing i think its just if the bride wears green its meant to be bad luck!
xx
CommentAuthoryvonne
aww jane, those dresses are gorgeous! xx

One of my bridesmaids has red hair and I chose champagne which I think looks really nice - see photos on my profile (note her first spray on tan as well). Her mum asked me to avoid any reds or pinks if possible.

Thanks Yvonne, I was very pleased with them! Though I have told my girls they cant put on even a pound in weight or we'll be in trouble!!!
