My wedding daytime reception will be held in a botanical gardens, with a drinks and canapes reception and wedding breakfast. I was just wondering whether to get some added entertainment during the day as there will quite a few kids around and was considering getting a bouncy castle (venue permitting) but was worried it might be a bit tacky and out of place seeing as the rest of the 'do is quite elegant? I want it to be a relaxed day!
Thoughts please! Or other suggestions for kids entertainment?

I think its a great idea to have something for the kids and Its a great idea, lets face it who doesn't love bouncy castlse. If you wanted something different, why not maybe hire a magician to wander round doing tricks or a caricture(??) artist, these are getting very popular and kids love it! Or giant garden games.

brilliant idea my friend had a summer wedding with a bouncy castle and an ice cream van and over the top garden games like connect 4... was just perfect

Love the idea - you wouldn't get me off it LOL! But I would want to know in advance so I didn't wear a skirt that flew up when I bounced on it :) I know it's meant for kids, but a lot of us 'grown-ups' may want a go too LOL!
Vegas baby!

i was thinking of one to but my venue said it has to be supervised by an adult at all times and you have to make sure you have the right sort of insurance in case of accidents. i deiced not to in the end as my venue as a play park and I'm going to get some lawn games as well.
Would it be for the kids or adults? I love the idea but i'd wear a dress to a wedding so I wouldn't be able to go on it. It depends on your guests I'd say. Xx

If your having kids during your daytime then it's an excellent idea, they're so much fun, keeps them amused and the adults can have a go too ;)

I think it sounds lie a fab idea to keep the kids entertained and it will wear them out too so they should be too tired to cause any trouble later on in the day!

I think a bouncy castle is a great idea! Im sure the adults would prefer the kids to be on there during the day rather than running around them and causing havoc because they are bored! Also, my dads friend had one at his 50th Birthday party and by the end of the night it was the adults on there not the children! And I am sure that if the bouncy castle does have to be supervised by an adult the parents can take it in turns to keep an eye on them? xxx

Honestly I would absolutely love it!! I want one myself when we get our venue sorted!! I don't think it'll be tacky at all, infact before reading this thread I never considered it could of been percieved that way at all... If you wanted a more sedate affair it might not be quite that but for me the reason I want one is because I think it will be fun, and I don't know about anyone else but thats really important for me and my other half, to make it memorable and personal for us... All i'd say to you is that you should make this day your own, if its what you want and the venue permit it go for it if you want... I bet you'll have fun!! x

honestly its not something I would do. It depends on the rest of the wedding.... you say its relaxed but very elegant so it depends if you think it will detract away from the overall look of the wedding. I know it wouldnt work with ours given outs is a very old style theme (minus my dress which doesnt go haha as princess doesnt go with olde english/vintage style!) It all depends on whether you think it will go or not x

also guests may be abit upset they cant go on it due to them wearing dresses etc, and if evening guests get too drunk, you may lose your deposit etc so just have a think before you go ahead but if you want it, go for it :)

I don't think its tacky necessarily but i definitely would not have one for a couple of reasons.Firstly i think that it is an accident waiting to happen either adults after having too much to drink or over enthusiastic kids who don't know when to stop.I would be convinced that at best someone would be in tears and at worst there would be a trip to casualty.I think they are fine for kids parties when everyone is sober and there is constant supervision plus its for two hrs max but all day and night with sozzled guests and hyperactive over excited children never! Secondly have you ever heard the din they make (the generator that is plus the shrieks of course) It would drive me crazy and would not fit in at all with the relaxed, elegant feel of my venue that i love. I think its down to personal choice but i would hate it as a bride or a guest! Gosh i sound like a right grump lol xxx
CommentAuthorsuzky123
I tend to agree.... i forgot about the noise which will affect your relaxed atmosphere. Also, do you want to deal with screaming kiddy winks on the day who have knocks and bumps or at worse a sprained ankle and a trip to A and E? Just things you need to think about before you go ahead.

BRILLIANT idea! I wanted a small one put up in our venues garden to keep all the kids entertained while we are having drinks and photos taken but h2b said no :(
CommentAuthorJonathanM14
its all personal opinion but this is tacky with a capital T!!! I see a wedding as an occasion where, for once, the focus is not just on kids. The more things you add to weddings like this the more it will just turn into a major kids party! Considering how you are doing the rest of the wedding this would stick out like a sore thumb. Its worth mentioning that bouncy castles and the like have become popular with chav weddings as they are all wearing brand new white trainers for the special day anyway, so are dressed for bouncy castles, lmfao. But, its just my opinion.
