hi all, im getting married in a civil ceremony on july 23rd 2011 and have just booked the registrar. she only had 2 spaces left so im having a 12 0 clock wedding which is slightly earleir than planned (either that or 2.30). i was originally told you can only book 12 months in advance but things have changed so im urging everyone to book before its too late and to save diappointment.

at least if mine is early the day can run late and it wont b a problem

i am getting married on the 6th august 2011, and have already booked the registrars, but cannot sort the notices until the 7th august 2010, as they are only valid for twelve months, so will do that then, but they take provisional bookings for dates and times so that you can have the date that you require. i booked mine a month ago so that was 17 months in advance of the wedding. x

Girls ... you can preliminary book your time and date anytime, it doesn't have to be within the year you are getting married.... the notice of marriage can only be done within the year you are getting married as it is only valid for a year, I think thats where the confusion lies ?? I had my registrar pencil in our time and date in February this year, and we're not getting married til next July!! I couldn't get through by phone so I dropped them an email which you can always do x

Just called the registry office as I am getting married on 23rd July 2011. I cannot book it until 23rd July this year and have to pay the full amount on that day. At least I know that if I call at 9am when they open I should get the time I want! They have 4 teams of registrars so I have a fair chance.

when i booked mine we were allowed to book it well in advance, we didnt have to pay a deposit either, they just said to ring up again within the twelve month period to do the notices and we would have to pay the two notice fees then, and then we would have to make another appointment 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding to pay for the registrar, so each county must be totally different, i am so glad that we were able to book ours well in advance though as it meant that we were able to sort out the venue early too x
