    Hi Girls,

As my big day looms closer, I thought it would be good to get some tips on what to change about diet/health/beauty regimes leading up to the day.

Anyone know of any good preparation guides? I've found one and their tips are:

    2 Months to go:

Schedule a practice session with your hairstylist. Bring your veil and pictures of your dress.

Begin regular deep conditioning treatments for your hair. This will ensure that your hair is in tip top shape for the wedding day.

Find an esthetician who does great waxing. Schedule a waxing appointment for one to two weeks before the wedding.

    Maintain regular manicures and pedicures.

Begin teeth whitening treatments or have your teeth professionally cleaned

    1 Month to go:

Do a final fitting of your dress. Make sure to try the dress on with your shoes and veil.

Go through a final test run with both your hairstylist and makeup artist to assess if any changes need to be made.

Start experimenting with your tan. Try a few varieties of sunless tanners to determine what you like best. A popular choice is the spray tan.

Continue with all your bridal beauty routines.

Anyone got anymore tips? These arent as thorough as I was looking for lol.

Even the above seems too much for me!! Tan, and teeth and stuff I am not likely to even think about.... I will definitely have a manicure though - never had one before!

As for tips, a friend of mine is a beautician and she suggested moisturising more, exfoliating every day and doing lots of make-up experiments to find out what you like.

Sorry I'm not more help but I am the least beauty treatment friendly person I know!! lol

Been with my gorgeous 5years :)

Exfoliate your whole body? That would be hard work lol. I should make more effort to do that though - thats going on the list. Its supposed to get rid of cellulite a bit isnt it? Famous folk use those brush things dont they?

Do not exfoliate your face every day!! You will take of fresh skin that is not ready to be removed. Skin cells take at least 28 days to rise to the surface., daily scrubbing exposes skin cells that are just not ready to see the light of day - this in turn will lead to sun spots/age spots.

The simplest beauty regime is to remove make-up in the evenings, a 'freshen up' cleanse in the morning. Use a moisturiser ever day.

Once a week, exfoliate, steam and apply a mask. If your skin is dry make it a moisturising mask, if it's oil make it a cleansing clay mask.

Exfoliate the body once or twice a week too.

I'd say - Drink plenty of water to flush out all the toxins and make your skin glow! Cut back on salt and get plenty of sleep!
As for the waxing, I definitely get that done a week before.

I think also the key is not to stress, you'll look gorgeous on the day

Yeah, I need to book my nail appointment and a waxing appointment too. I might do that today :-)

I wanted to get laser whitening but theres no chance I can afford that now. Got whitening toothpaste so that'll have to do. Incedently, how much water are you supposed to drink a day? Is it 2 litres? I tend to only drink maybe 1 litre a day at the moment. so need to sort that out.

Exfoliating once a week or twice a week will do for me, i thought you meant your whole body lol, I wouldnt exfoliate my face to be honest - my skin is pretty clear and I always wash my make up off before bed :-) I'd rather use a face mask once a week, I like the masks that heat up on your skin.

Apparently the institue of medicine recommends 2.2 litres or 8 to 9 glasses a day for women . . . but dont drink it all at once!!!!

not drinking enough is a bad habit of mine. i'm lucky if i drink a pint of liquid a day

i will have a few microdermabrasion sessions to get rid of the crap skin. i feel like i have aged 10 years with the last two kids. my skin is terrible!!

but i suppose if i drank more water, it wouldn't be as bad.

my face gets a wash with water in the morning...and maybe some moisturiser if i remember lol

i have started to use baking soda once a week to whiten my teeth and it's amazing!! i just mix a little with some water, dip the toothbrush in and brush my teeth. even after doing it once, i noticed a huge difference!! it tastes awful, but it's fab and CHEAP!!

My beauty regime in the big run up is:~
~One dermoligca facial every month (I got a good deal with my beautican)
~Exfoliate skin 3-4 per week (not face, just body) with body scrub and exfoliator gloves
~Exfoliate face 2 time per week
~Remove make-up everynight, and put warm flannel on face to open up pores, then mositurise
~Currently halve way through teeth whitening, will do a little 'refresher' a week before wedding day
~Deep conditioning hair treatment once a week
    ~Zinc and vit C supplements

Gosh this seems quite a lot when it's all written down! :O No wonder I'm exhausted when I wake up in the morning lol!

I have sort of started my beauty regime already. I have huge pores on my nose so am using those pore strips once a week.

I'm also using buffy from lush once a week.

Caupcake, step away from the pore strips! If you have large pores then the strip will remove what's in them, but then leave them open to the elements. You've got plenty of time to work on them, it's simple and inexpensive.

Once a week, steam your face (make sure the water isn't scalding!) you can add a couple of lavender drops f you have it to hand, do this for 5 mins, then use a kaolin based clay mask which can be left on for 5-10 mins. This will draw out the impurities, and banish them on the skins surface. Every day when you wash your face start with warm water to open the pores before cleansing, then once you've rinse of you cleanse splash your face several times with alternating warm and cool water, this will exercise the muscle in the pore wall, helping to contract them.

god i am so lazy when it comes to looking after myself! I shower daily, and that's about as far as it goes! Recently though I thought I'd better make an effort and I've been using a body scrub every couple of days in the shower and use a face scrub thing once a week. I've been making sure I moisturise my face after every time I shower too as my face gets dry if not. My skin feels lovely and soft now though :o) That's the total extent of my beauty regime! I'm having a manicure the day before the wedding and doing my own makeup xxx

They have shrank quite a bit from using them. I don't have time to wash my face properly it's just wipes for me (at least I only use baby wipes to remove my make up instead of as my only cleaning method)

Ah Katie, the baby wipes could explain a lot! They dry the skin up too much, making the skin produce more oil to re-lubricate itself! Surely a damp flannel is just as quick?!

I started to cleanse tone and moisturise at xmas when I got a nice set and it's made a difference, I have a bit more of a glow as I never used to moisturise my face at all. Cupcake, my h2b has the pore issue on his nose and I started making him use the strips, will do it more regularly now that you've said it works well.

Lillybaby - best tip for dry skin is to moisturise, i get really dry skin and moisturise my face everyday usually twice (morning & night) but when it comes to the rest of my body i'm pretty lazy i get scaley legs. Exfoliate and moisturise regularly especially before doing a fake tan! or you'll go real patchy, do it the night before, i usually put tan on leave it over night and shower it off in the morning. i've used various and have found the cheaper ones do just as good a job if not better than the expesive ones, tesco do a cream one for about £4 and St Moriz is really good (dont panic when you put it on, it washes off and looks fine) and you can see where its being applied as it goes on dark, i would recommend always applying with a tanning mit, goes on smooth and streak free and helps to avoid looking like you've slapped and umpa lumpa in the face lol. hope this helps x

no probs, i know that feeling with make-up! maybe if you start moisturising regularly you might be able to be more flexible with foundation as it will help with the dryness, clease, tone and moisturise makes all the difference if you can be bothered to do it. i quite like rimmel, i can't remember what its called but its in a glass bottle and has a blue lid, the one with the red lid is pretty good too but can make me quite greasy through the day. i love the loreal mineral powder but when i've got dry patches its not so good but keep moisturising hun and should make a big differnce :) good luck! xx

It could be the fact that I've been trying to dry them out and making it worse, on my face any way. Someone put earlier that your skin would make more oil to combat this :(

    OATS.

Seriously cannot recommend oats enough. It reduces redness and inflammation, cleanses, gently exfoliates, has anti ageing properties, reduces acne, is 100% hypoallergenic and is all round awesome stuff.

I just buy some oats for oatmeal at the supermarket. Grab a small handful and put it in a bowl with a little olive oil (as oats can be a bit drying on my skin and I can't use moisturiser) Add in some warm (but not hot) water and swish it around a bit so the water turns milky. I then dip in a cotton wool ball and rub the water on my face and then use it to scoop up some oats and rub them gently over my face as well to get more of the goodness. Then rinse with cool water.

It can get a bit messy but it's really worth it. Face feels clean, really soft and when I wake up in the morning (I do it before bed) any redness I had is drastically reduced.

I really should do it every night but because it's so messy I get a bit lazy and can't be bothered with it. It really does work though. If you didn't want to do it daily you could make a mask with oats and honey or oats and yoghurt and leave it on for 15 mins once a week and still get great results!
