Just found out that H2B niece who is our oldest bridesmaid is planning on joining the RAF police when she turns 18 in August. I don't know much about the RAF but isn't the training really long? I had a quick look and it said after you pass the initial training you'll then do 23 weeks at the next place!! Is she going to be able to make our wedding?? What are the chances of getting leave when you are on training?

No she has only really just started to look into it. So I don't know how successful she'll be. But she has always done cadets, so whether that will help her or not.

My friends hubby is in the RAF and he really struggles with leave, they can say yes or no and can always change theier minds too.... I agree with everyone else she should raise it at her interview, but I think the chance of it is slim, sorry x x

Yeah I thought this was the case. I'm not sure what to do now.... I don't think she can try and join untill she's 18 in August but we need to start looking for dresses, and have a rough idea by Oct ready for our next flower meeting. And depending on if she's a bridesmaid or not will depend on what type of dress the others will have.

    Hi Hun.

My h2b is in the raf. He did 3 months training at halton, and didnt get leave whilst he was there. It really depends on what trade you are in, and its totally up to the sgt or flt on what leave you get. She may just be lucky. By the way the RAF is crud! I hate it lol. xx

    Hey,

I am looking to join the RAF, Basically when you know what you want to do you need to register your interest in a your chosen career. When a vacancy opens up, they will send u an email telling you to apply for the position. They will then get you to to the apitude test, interviews, tests, fitness tests etc, and go away for 4 days. It can take up to 6 months for aircrew and 9 months for an officer to do all tests etc. If you have been offered a position you then go on to 3 months training for aircrew and 6 months for an officer then your in the RAF.

To be honest, I don't know when a position will open up for the police, but you will probably be safe in the next 9 months, she will probably be still training or even having interviews and tests etc. I know during training you do get some weekends off and can visit home too.

I went to AFCO several weeks ago.

I hope this helps,I would say have her as a Bridesmaid, get the dresses etc coz until she actually applies for the position then its just a waiting game.

    Vickie xx
