I had never considered doing anything other than wearing my beautiful dress all day and all night until the bitter end.I will only be wearing it once and all that! Anyway h2b has now asked if i will be having another dress for the evening so that i can dance. He also said maybe i would be more relaxed as it is quite likely that if i wear my dress in the evening someone will spill something on it or step on it and it will be ruined! Is anyone thinking of doing this? My thoughts are who am i keeping the dress pristine for? If it gets spoiled it would be a shame but its not like i am planning to wear it again? However i spoke to my moh and she said that my dancing ability is likely to be severely restricted by my dress and i do like a good boogey at a wedding1 xxx

I didn't change, as I wanted to get the most out of my wedding dress, I also wanted my evening guests to see it ;) By the evening time you don't really care if your dress is clean or not to be honest lol it didn't stop me dancing either!!!
I think you might regret it if you take it off x

it used to be the done thing to have an evening dress, but not as popular now

i am going to be fortunate enough to wear my dress twice, but i think i will end up changing into a white bikini and sarong in cyprus. i'll be too hot and worried about it being ruined before the party back home. don't have time to get it dry cleaned and can't afford it!!

    it's up to you though

if i was only having a wedding at home, i would keep it on all night

there are some beautiful dresses that have detatchable skirts to solve the dancing issue will upload some photos :)

I have bought a dress to get changed into if i want to..... so i have got the option. I would rather have it and not want it than want it and not have it you know?
The dress i have bought to change into is very pretty but will also be easily dressed down to wear on honeymoon / evening out etc... so if i dont wear it on the wedding day i will still get some wear out of it so no major worries.

I have a second dress as my main dresshas a fairly big hoop so not easy to sit in or do a close dance in lol. However I am currently expecting our second child so theres a chance I will have to wear the second dress the whole day if I don't slim back down time to fit the main dress

When i got married first time around i changed into another dress for the evening reception, and actually wished i hadnt.
this time i am gonna wear my dress all day and night.....
    AND
a change of plan means we wont now be staying over at the hotel, (changed venues and the new venue has no availability)
so we are coming home, and as its not a late wedding because not having evening reception so will end around 8-9....we are hitting the town pubs...and i'll be wearing my dress for that too! should be fun...... nothing and nobody is making me take my dress off....
I MIGHT even go shopping in it the next day! LOL

I am actually thinking of taking mine on honeymoon....as we are going to vegas and we said wouldnt it be fun to pose outside a wedding chapel for a photo, or by the vegas sign, and pretend we just got married so we get lots of freebies from the hotel etc....was joking but i am thinking it might be funny to do it anyway.

Kate Middleton did it, so I'm doing it! W2B will not find out about this until the day though. I'll have to pay out of my own pocket rather than the wedding budget!

I want to be able to dance and I don't want other people standing on my dress so I'll be going for a shorter but still white, possibly ivory dress. I think I'll go with a vintage style.

My 1st wedding I bought an outfit for evening but didn't take dress of as there just wasn't time and i hardly stopped to breathe nevermind get changed.

Funniest thing was that next morning when I got up to get dressed to go down to breakfast I realised that my mum had forgot to put my bag in my hotel room, so i just chucked the dress back on and went down to the hotel restaurant in it for breakfast. The whole place was in stitches at me .... I was too hungry to care as I had hardly eaten the day before lol

I kept my wedding dress on all day, right to the end of the night. When we had our evening reception back home though, I wore my wedding dress again (so people who weren't at the wedding could see it) - but half way through I changed into a smaller dress so that I could have a dance etc. It was a short, strapless one - ivory with black lace over it.

I kept my wedding dress on all day and night......it cost too much to just wear it for a few hours ......and I loved wearing it, its one of the few things that I have worn that make me look 4 sizes smaller, and makes me look like a princess...LOL

I even wore it a second time, and loved that too, when the photos had to be done again because mine were crap.......

I dont think i will take mine off even if i cant move, I dont see the point of spending the money to then tak it off, you only wear it once and like previously commented Im hoping I wont want to take it off lol.

I will be keeping in mind when i go dress shopping about the size and movibility I have it it and will not allow myself top by a dress that i cant move in and wont be comfortable as I also like to dance the night away but will not be taking it off (the shoes however is a different story) x

    Thanks for the bump Samantha....

I suppose I really am a bit premature. I havent even bought 1 dress yet let alone 2! To be honest, I dont think money is a worry as my Mum is buying my main dress and likes the idea of having a second. I don't want my Mum spending a fortune so aiming on getting a sample or end of season from a specialist shop. The second dress, will prob be a sample too and I have found a shop that specialises in shorter dresses and regularly sells the samples off for £50 so that was my plan. Either way, I need to buy my 1st dress I think, because by the sounds of it, I might not want to take it off! ( and it might not be as heavy as I am imagining it!)

i'm thinking of doing this... but only because our wedding is going to be very small and intimate and we will most likely leave the venue we choose around 6pm and then go to a local country pub for a family knees up, and i don't want to be wearing my full on wedding dress at the pub (i'm a massive introvert - hence the small wedding - so would feel really awkward and out of place) so i'm thinking of buying a 2nd dress, still in white, but maybe knee length? x

My sis had another dress and was so glad she did! Her dress had a lot of detail up by the underarm, and by the evening had all rubbed sore so she was really pleased to be able to change. She went off at about 9pm so evening guests saw the dress and the second one was a more relaxed floaty wedding dress.. shes offered me it as a back up and I may well take her up on it as mine has similar detail! I had a big princess dress and decided to go looking for something lighter for the evening and ended up realising it was because I didn't really love the dress I had like I thought! Whilst looking for an evening dress I tried another dress on and fell in love!! There's no way I'll be changing out of that, I may protest and just wear it the entire weekend! Hehe. Maybe like me, you girls that are thinking of getting a second dress need to evaluate if the one you've got is really 'the one' x
