I am staying over at our venue the night before our wedding to save time on the day and also to save money on transport but I cant help feeling a bit sad that i'm not having the whole "being driven to my wedding" experience. Is anybody else not having a car?

    Hi

I am not having a car. The church is a few minutes behind my house and it seems pointless. I am just going to ask someone to drive me up there (Up a steep hill!) But don't see the point of paying a silly amount of money for something I am going to be in for only a few minutes. :)

I'd like to not hire a car lol. We have no idea how we can afford one but I need to get to the church somehow, then we need to get to the reception venue so we kind of have to have a car xx

I can have a choice whether i would like a car to the venue or not..... as the wedding ceronmy venue, there is a bridal suite upstairs which i can use to get ready in etc... its either a 7min boat ride or a 40min drive... either way though i get to go in a car for on the way back as dont fancy getting on a boat in my wedding dress...

Do you know someone with a nice car Joanna that could perhaps bit some nice ribbon on it that could take you, thats what my friend did.

They are ridiculously pricey though, and some you have to have them for a minimum of 3 hours, if i did go from home i would only need it for 20 minutes, plus everybody will already be in the venue waiting for you to arrive so nobody else we see it, daft really. dont feel so sad now lol x

my mum is really gutted that we are not having a vintage style horse and carriage and dave is gutted we are not having a bently as I too am staying overnight. Therefore, it is a cost we can avoid so yes it means we lose a photo opportunity but it saves us a few quid. I wouldnt get upset about it and instead think of the money you are saving.

My mum is upset that i'm not getting ready and leaving from her house to which i said you pay for a car and i will lol, she soon piped down haha also it would mean my dad would have to come to her house (they split up 15 years ago and dont speak and yes even getting on for one day is too much to ask) and i said to her, if i get ready at your house it would mean dad would have to come to yours and she said, well he wouldnt have to come in would he? what would she want me to do make him wait on the drive..hmmm that wouldnt be awkward would it, so getting ready at the venue and having no car it is xx

I keep trying to talk h2b to letting me hire a helicopter to come and take us for a 20 ride inbetween the meal and evening reception for some time on our own but he's having none of it, supose it kind of defeats the object of saving money on cars doesnt it lol but it would be pretty cool xx

I am staying at the reception venue the night before but the church im getting married in is 20min drive from venue so I will need a car. I'm using my dads car though, he has a fancy number lol and getting my uncle to drive it :) Unsure about bridesmaids/mums car though as im reluctant to pay £££ for a car. I will hopefully use another 'nice' car in my family!

oh this reminded me of the stories floating about my cousins wedding in a couple of weeks. shes (the bride my cousins fiancee) hired a car for her and her mum to get to church, when asked about my cousin she shrugged her shoulders and said "dont care im sorted!!!" she was then asked about her bridesmaids and said the same thing, "they can get there themselves, they are old enough!!" well i laughed. sorry but i did so now my uncle is having to drag his car for 3 runs to take everyone to church....shocking.

as for me were staying at the venue the night before so we wont need one, but our photographer said she would drive us around if needed. weve known her since we started together so shes doing us loads of favours!!! xxx

I tapped into my resources my cousin has a Mercedes and hubbys mate has a Jag so that was our transportation for the day. Then realised did not sought anything out for brides maid so got another mate with a nice car and they brought them. Imo wedding cars are an unnecessary expenses

The plan is that I get ready at home with the bridesmaids, and my brother will come and take 2 of the bridesmaids, and my sister will take the other 2 and myself......HOWEVER....I have just had an epiphany! and I am going to ask a man at work about his VW camper van. If he agrees to do it then I would want him to pick all 5 of us up, and take us to the registry office, then take the bridesmaids after the ceremony to the venue as I will be with hubby in his own car.....
I am also wondering whether to get ready at the hotel instead, while H2B stays here the night......and if we do that then the VW driver would pick us up from the hotel and take us to the registry office, then bring the bridesmaids back after the ceremony. Havent decided wheteer to stay at the hotel or not yet.......I think it would be best if we did cos there would be more room to get ready, and then have pictures taken in the hotel garden before leaving for the registry office.

I'm staying the night in a hotel which is probs a 5 minute walk (with my heels on) from where i'm getting married, which is my mother in law's garden. I'll be damned if i'm going to pay for a car when I can easily walk it and will be in the same place day and night xxxx

I'm staying over the night before for convenience and also as cheaper than car hire.

I have found a local taxi firm that has a 'special' car you can hire, it's a merc and it's twice usual fare, which I am booking to pick up h2b from his parents' house and bring him to the hotel. So he's not turning up in an old escort on his wedding day!

I siad to my OH i could just get the train and walk the 5 minutes from the station to the venue....she says i cant, but I really dont see why not, i think it could be fun.

I am stayin at my venue the night before the wedding and H2B is staying in a hotel over the road.

We couldnt afford to have cars so Our friend is bringing his classic Rover MG from the 60's so we can take photos with it. Its a rather tasty looking car :-) But his mother (who along with my mother are becomming increasingly annoying as wedding draws closer) is insisting on driving us to the beach in her car (the MG is a two seater and my man doesnt drive, so we need a different car to drive to have photos taken with other car...if that makes sense)! We asked his uncle cos he has a posh car but the MIL knows best apparently........
