I had a meeting with our venue this morning to finalise a few things. She asked who I was staying at the venue with the night before the wedding. When I said it was me and 3 bridesmaids having a girlie night, she said she'd arrange for a bottle of champagne to be sent up! Then she said after our ceremony we could have free hire of a third room prior to moving into our reception room. Then she said that although I only have 100 guests on the evening, I could invite a further 20 and she wouldn't charge me any extra. I was pretty gobsmacked. Not often people give freebies out for weddings!!

We've got two free nights in the honeymoon lodge and they are opening up the dining room for the older guests to get a bit of peace and quiet at no extra charge but, when I think about what they charge for the venue they're not giving much away at all! xxx

Love getting something for free! Even if i am rather cynical and think that it is in the price as someone else said, i can also convince myself that it is free! Fab! Push them for more, be cheeky, lol. x

After meeting with our wedding venue co-ordinator, we found that there were several things I wanted that they didn't have i.e burgundy chair sashes etc. - they had them in cream or blue, so I asked if I could provide my own and said "the hotel can just keep them afterwards" Joy (wedding co-ordinator) was quite overwhelmed at "our generosity" that she said to us we didn't need to pay our deposit , and that it could be paid on the day of the wedding along with everything else ... needless to say we politely refused her generous offer, as it was £250 we had that we would have spent and would needed to have found again!

Have you had a meal there Penny? Delectable is the only work to describe the food !!!!!!!! We were originally going to get married in The Old Mill Hotel, but the food was RUBBISH. There was NO way I was paying £30 per head for frozen processed food that was disgusting!

We have been for several meals, and I being the fussy eater that I am have cleared my plate every time. That's really important to me!
It's now choosing a menu that's going to suit everyone else lol .... not been to bad, we decided on a fish dish, a beef dish and a chicken dish, so hopefully everyone's catered for .. if not ... TOUGH!

yes we got a freebie at our venue. we are getting the bridal suite and 2 of the other 8 rooms free so save is £600, lus because we have booked the other 6 rooms they have given us breakfast for everyoe free!!!!! PLUS instead of the venue price being £7500 we are getting it for £5000 because we booked it with less than a year till the date and they have done it as a good will guesture as they more than likely wouldnt have booked it so as she said better for them to book it at a reduced rate than have no wedding!!!!
