After taking your advice on board, and creating a list of all that we want from our day, we have decided we are going to go abroad, just the two of us, and then have a big celebration party when we get back.
Could really do with some help and advice on where's best, rules. etc, we liked Thailand but found out earlier that if wouldn't be legal in the UK so have gone off that idea.
Any other Brides out there who can shed some light for us ?
Are there any companies that are best to use ? It's a bit scary putting our day in someone elses hands but any recommendations would be fab.
Ta Ladies.
xx

Cyprus is only 3days residency before marriage & with FirstCh* - You pay for the hols & the wedding was about £600 extra!
If you go to the Caribbean you get the wedding free when you buy the holiday!
We wanted Vegas or New York also I really wanted the Canaries but it's not allowed over there!
We looked into them all so ask away!! I know the residency's for most countries for marriage & everything lol x

Vegas - you don't need to do anything in advance, not even give notice in the UK (although we did as it felt as though it was part of the process for us). You turn up at the County Clerks office and get your license, where you both have to be present, and then get married. Simple as that. In case you don't know, if you marry aboad, your marriage won't be registred in the UK, although it may well (depending on marriage location) be legal. Also, if you marry aborad, you are subject to both their laws and the UK laws, (not that we really think about this) including divorce laws. Hubby and I thought it quite amusing that in a few generations time anyone tried to do our family tree, then it would be difficult to find a record of our marriage from UK records LOL!

Vallium ;) My counsin is a terrible flyer and went to her Dr's when she was going on her honeymoon and explained the problem. He gave her vallium and it worked a treat. It is a loooong flight though - 11 3/4 hrs direct there and 10.5 back. And it was borrrrrrrrrring! And no chance of upgrades (free) cos there are so many couples flying out there to get married. There were four other couples just on our flight out!

Ooo I like the sound of Vallium lol.. I have a massive fear of heights! I have flown plenty when I was younger just not as an adult so I am worried I would go to get on the flight & suddenly refuse! Yeah the length really put me off - aww boo thats pants! x

Italy's Amalfi Coast - STUNNING! :) St Lucia - GORGEOUS! (but quite ££ and a longish flight)
We're getting married in Iceland (only a 3hr flight suprisingly!) and that's legal in the UK too - forms need to be handed in 2 working days before ceremony, copies can be faxed before that but they need the originals still. A lot of hotels that advertise weddings will sort things out for you :) Xx

PS - glad you've decided to do what you two want :) Xx

we're getting married in cyprus and it's been quite straightforward so far (still the same wedding stresses though!! lol)
originally we wanted to go away with just the kids, and i really wish we'd still done that!!
to be honest, it's the party back home which is causing the most headache lol
it can be done and be the most perfect day :)
you can go through a wedding planning company or do it all yourself (like we are).
everything included, i think we are about 4k?? maybe a wee bit more??

In alot of contries you have to be there for a certain amount of time before you can marry there. I am getting married in cyprus in may and i think its roughly 3 days before being allowed to marry there. I found my wedding planned online and she is amazing, planning my wedding through email etc :)
Before getting married abroad you have to have a affidavit (a solicitor has to write a letter to say you are legal to marry etc) prices vary for different countries too.

@anastasia it's been fine, but i really couldn't have done it if i wasn't on here!!
through this website i've had advice and links from other girls that have helped me plan.
we're having a very relaxed wedding and privately renting a villa through a villa/apartment owners website and the owners offer catering for weddings. they are doing a wedding bbq by the pool and been so helpful
there were lots of wedding planning companies who had really good prices, but because we're on a really tight budget, we didn't want to pay 200quid extra. but they can get you amazing deals with flowers/cars/cake/catering etc coz they are there and have the contacts.
where are you looking at??
