    Hi all,

Its now 150 days until I get married (just under 5 months) I'm sooo excited :) there sre a few pics on my wall if you wish to have a look.

Im starting to get a little nervous about giving notice. Me and h2b have been together 6 years and know everything about each other however I dont like the idea of being put on the spot. :(

    Any advise??

Dont worry! My h2b got all questions wrong but the lady was really nice and we gave notice! They are not there to put you on the spot, just check you are a genuine couple. The oh was getting flustered and say 'I would normally just ask her but im not allowed lol'

Don't worry hun, they're all really easy questions which you'll both be fine answering I'm sure as they are really standard questions you will both know the answers to. You'll only get them wrong if you work yourself up into a stress about them. You'll both be fine xx

I do not even know anything about giving notice, When we booked the registrar she said that from a year before you must give notice and i said what is that and im sure she just said you ring your local registry office and notify them. So what do you actually have to do? xxx

Nah, it's really not that bad ladies.

I had to take my change of name deed as well as the usual required docs (birth certificate, passport, proof of address etc.). We were asked some things together - where we were getting married, when etc. The I was asked to wait outside and she asked hubby my full name, my job title (he got that wrong) and how long we'd been together (I think). Then I was asked the same about him and gave my answers.
We 'passed' and 2 weeks later I picked up the magic blue A4 paper :)

Ah I didnt get a magic blue paper!

He was asked what I did (got it nearly right) my date of birth (didnt know the year) and we turned up with an out of date bill (should be dated the last 3 months) and we still got our pack and 'passed'. Its all really easy!

When we gave our notice i went in first, the registrar asked me for venue location/date/time then my ID and H2B's ID, he asked me my name, his name, my job title, his job title, my address, his address. I went out, H2B went in registrar asked him his name, his address, his job title ... nothing about me. Then we both went in together and he explained the pack - optional vows and readings, and that was it. I was stressing for a week for nothing lol x

Thought it was just me stressing about this, my h2b is crap about remembering dates etc, I make him record things in a book as the first year we were together we missed his mums birthday lol.

They are simple questions they ask you so don't worry. My hubby messed it up as originally we were getting married at 430pm, but changed it to an earlier time as we would still of had to pay for the whole day at the venue. When they asked him what time and where we were getting married he said the original time, AND he said my maiden name whereas I still used my ex husband's name. Doofus!! We did have a giggle about things with them though.

Iv just been and got my forms: It will be £70, is that roughly what everyone else is paying?
Also, it dosn't say anything about being questioned, is that not only for people from different countries who are getting married here?
    xx

Ours was £35 each so £70 is right. Everyone (that i know of having a registrar out to venue) has had to go in and answer basic questions - names dates locations etc, it's not like a police interrogation or anything xx

its pretty simple. Check that you can legally wed each other (we had to take now-husband's final divorce notification, my wedding certificate and death certificate - as I was a widow, passport and utility bill) - asked full names, ages, jobs, what father did.. that was it. I think it's mainly because they have to check that you know each other and are not marrying for a right to stay in the UK, though, obviously, if you hold a UK passport you can do that anyhoo but they can't be seen to be discriminating.

stress not - my husband got my job wrong :)

Thanks guys, I will try not to panic now I know the questions should be very simple.. I hope all they ask the other half is details about him as Im not sure he would do well other wise.

I really do appreciate the help. We have our interview the end of November. :)

I think being put under pressure it what makes our mind forget a simple answer that we know its ok to make mistakes and if you correct it after saying it wrong and give the right answer I'm sure it will be fine =D <3 X

i was exactly the same got so worked up thinking no way would h2b know what they asked he always asks me he wouldnt even know his own parents date of birth let alone mine lol but it was absolutely fine. simply asked me name , h2b's name , address, job title then asked me his job title and his fathers name that was it she asked him all the same questions leaving out the bit about my dad as i explained in my eyes i dont have one and dont ant him on the wedding certificate. then we went in together she was so kind talked us through the pack wished us luck and as we told her we had been worried she asked h2b just for fun what would you have said if i asked her mums date of birth? h2b replied "i can give you her phone number you can give her a ring!" i cringed but she laughed and we came ut feeling very excited as its the first big step towards getting married :)

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

Oh jeez!!! I have booked an appointment but did not have a clue what it was all about!! I wasn't nervous but I am a little bit now because my mind goes blank when I am questioned even though I would normally know the answers.
Good luck for your giving notice appointments if you've not already done so:)
