The Real Wedding of Natasha Butler & Gary Butler

Natasha Butler & Gary Butler's Wedding Story

The proposal:
Gary and I booked a week away in Santorini, Greece. And on the second night, he got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of the picturesque setting. It couldn’t of been more romantic.

Your dress. Did it take long to find? Was it exactly as you’ve always imagined? How many dresses did you try on?
I tried on about 30 dresses before deciding ‘the one’. I chose a fitted stunning, ivory lace dress with a delicate applique design with a stunning back and train. My something old was my grandad's handkerchief which I wore in my garter, it meant a lot to me as he passed away 5 months before.

Why did you choose your venue? Did you have a specific place in mind from an early stage?
We always wanted a very special place for our wedding day and we found it when we visited Nettlestead Place. The beautiful stately house was perfect for the ceremony. We chose the Undercroft to get married in, the ambiance was perfect. The room has such historic character. The stunning grounds has its own marquee where we had our reception.

Did you have a theme or particular colour scheme? Why did you choose this?
Our colour scheme was powder blue and theme was extravagance with an enchanting style.

What did the bridesmaids wear?
My bridesmaid dresses were simply beautiful. Soft powder blue colour by Jarlo. They each wore a single white orchid in the side of their hair.

And the groom/groomsmen?
The groom and groomsmen wore blue three piece suits with matching bow ties from Anthony Formal wear.

What flowers did you choose?
Being a florist myself has made the flowers a huge part for me. White orchids, roses and peonies with soft blue hydrangea and delphiniums where used, and created a magical touch throughout.

And your cake?
Gary's sister Angie bakes cakes as a hobby, so we were delighted when she said she would make our 3 tier wedding cake, the bottom was chocolate, the middle lemon drizzle and top Victoria sponge. It was truly delicious.

Tell us about the ceremony? How did you feel walking down the aisle, were there any funny or touching moments. Did you have any personal readings etc?
As our singer sung, Can’t help falling in love with you - UB40, and my dad and I entered the Undercroft, I was so overwhelmed and happy to see everyone we loved in the room, I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time and seeing Gary waiting for me, he was so nervous that I couldn’t get his wedding ring on his finger, it made everyone giggle.
Tell us about arriving at the reception, the photos, the wedding breakfast plus décor, any entertainment, the speeches…
While we were drinking pims and eating canapés and having our photos taken, our singer sung on the beautiful grounds which gave it a great summery vibe. We had a band in the evening and they kept the dance floor full all night.

What was your first dance?
Our first dance was Nathan Sykes – over and over again.

Where was your honeymoon? Did you go immediately after the wedding or leave it a few days?
We have booked Sandals Royal in Barbados for February 2019, we cannot wait we have something to look forward to.
