The Royal Wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall
It's Royal Wedding Round Two — the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips and rugby superstar Mike Tindall are due to tie the knot in Edinburgh in front of 400 friends and family, and we can't wait to hear all the juicy details...
First and foremost, we'd like to applaud Zara for not keeping us in the dark — unlike royal counterpart Kate Middleton — the Queen's granddaughter has already revealed her wedding dress designer in the run up to her big day!
The horse enthusiast has chosen one of the Queen's couturiers — London based Stewart Parvin — to create her dream dress, and whilst the specific design and intricate details look set to stay under wraps until the day itself, speculation hints towards something elegant and profoundly classic.
British designer Stewart Parvin — who has been creating bespoke wedding dresses since 1999 — isn't known for a signature look, so there's no scope to paint a more accurate picture, we'll just have to wait and see on the day! Quality and glamour are assured however, as the 44-year-old gained a Royal Warrant of Appointment in 2007 after dressing HRH the Queen for a number of years.
In contrast to our last nuptial encounter with the royals, the nation will not be able to witness the couple's exchange of vows, as the ceremony is set to remain a private family affair. Zara, who is 13th in line to the throne, was allegedly forced to turn down the offer of £500,000 to sell the rights to her wedding after Buckingham Palace officials ruled out the plans for a glossy magazine deal.
Their Edinburgh wedding will take place at Canongate Kirk, a historic church founded in 1688, followed by a reception at Holyrood Palace. Whilst insiders insist it will be a relatively modest affair, the reported 400 names on their guest list imply otherwise, and are suggestive of an adequately extravagant event!
Guests look likely to include a number of royals, including The Queen and Prince Phillip, Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton, and also Prince Harry. A number of Mike Tindall's rugby team mates are also expected to attend.
And finally, a quirky question on the lips of the UKbride team — as an experienced horsewoman, will Zara arrive on horseback à la Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride...?
For a first glimpse of 2011's second set of royal newlyweds, head to Edinburgh's Royal Mile!
