Hey lovely, have you thought about hiring your dress? this is a much cheaper option! Also call local bridal shops and ask if they have any sample sales coming up as you can often get dresses under £500! Also check online places like missguided and asos who now have a bridal range! It is definately do-able I've even found some UK sellers on ebay who have amazing dresses for under £200! Good Luck! xx

Look for an evening dress. Or maybe a wedding dress in somewhere like monsoon?

If you can find one local, there is a store chain called Wed2Be. All of their designer dresses are from £99-£599. You can look them up online to see samples x

Perfectly doable. I got mine for £150. It was a shop which sold brand new ( but probably last season) dresses. As you choose a dress for your own style/ shape etc, a year old designdidn't make any difference to me! It wasn't fancy in any way, but I'm not the demand attention, red carpet, requires fizz type of bridal shop client lol! Good luck xx

Dorothy Perkins, river island and a lot of other high street stores are now releasing bridal ranges, also Debenhams do wedding dresses all around the £150-£300 mark and tbh some of them are really nice :) I was looking at a bridal range on one of the stores websites last night and some were really nice...can't quite remember which one it was now, maybe topshop or something? But yeah lots of those sorts of shops are starting to introduce bridal ranges. I've signed up for email notifications from Dorothy perkins which you can do on their site, they've not released wedding dresses yet but if you register they'll email when they're available :)

It is doable. I got my dress last year from our local bridal shop, they were having a sale on in the January and we got married in the August. It came to just under £200 and is absolutely gorgeous. Look locally as you can find a lot in the sales. Good luck for your big day

That's easily doable. If you don't mind second hand you will get plenty on a popular auction site for less than that. Also sample sales tend to be much lower priced. Wed2be have dressed for around 200 in some stores. Also check asos, monsoon, and Debenhams.

Have a look on JJ's house, they do some gorgeous dresses from about £80 upwards.Have a wee look at the reviews for any dresses that catch your eye as often customers who have bought that dress will have put a pic of them in it, it gives you a bit of peace of mind, they also have custom size options, as some of the other ladies have said, there is also wed2be.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 17 Mar 2017

There's a shop call wed2b who does dresses for less than £550 so if you go there and explain they will only show you the dresses in your budget. Also tiffanys are priced well, I saw one in there for £249 and it was gawjus!! And if you have an oxfam wedding store near you, they have a section with brand new (but ex display) dresses which are normally priced around 2/300 :-)

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 17 Mar 2017

Many branches of charity shops have a bridal section now and as most Wedding dresses have only been worn once (unlike the other clothes in charity shops) it will be in good nick. So I would try there. Some charity shops even have specific bridal ones only.

I have two dresses for my wedding day (hell I only plan on doing it once so why not) both are proper wedding dress designers.... I paid £55 for one of them and £67 for the other one.... both off eBay.... I only bid on ones that had plenty of pictures and I messaged the sellers asking for the bust, waist and hip measurements so that I could check sizing... I also found that you can get the size chart for the different designers on the interest (helped with sellers that didn't message back)
Also went for one with a corset back which give much more lee-way on the sizing....

So chuffed with both of them :)

I found a dress that I wanted in a bridal shop however could not afford/justify spending £1000 on it. I had been told of a gentleman in China who makes wedding dresses, all you need to do is provide him a picture/drawing of what you want and he will provide a quote.

Don't know where you live but if you are anywhere close enough Jewkes Bridal in Rushden Northamptonshire is good, prices from £100-£600 and they have a good sized range of different styles and shapes, not just simple 'cheap' dresses. They aren't a chain though so they don't have other stores, they have some pics of their dresses on their Facebook page x

HI Ashley this is doable. I bought my dress for £200 it is absolutely beautiful. i would highly recommend the lady I bought my dress of. she has a small shop in west yorkshire but also has a website:
https://www.eves-wedding-shop.co.uk/
All her dresses are gorgeous and cost under £299. also there is free postage on her dresses. She is a lovely woman who is really helpful

Emma Raisborough

Absolutely do-able. You can ask bridal boutiques if they have any sample sale dresses which are heavily reduced from their normal price, or more and more high street shops and websites (like asos, Debenhams, Monsoon and John Lewis) are now doing wedding dresses at a much lower cost.
